Nice photos, I recognise some of the Mull sights.

I've been to Pennyghael House too. No dead Discovery outside when I visited though.

It has quite an interesting history, it was once owned by Genesis.

I lived on Mull and was working at Pennyghael for Genesis when they bought the estate in 1986..the lady lost the house due to death duties as she signed it over to her husband and then carelessly he went and died..she sold it to Hit and Run records..a tax dodge company..and as revenge..Ms Gleasher stuck a Grade 2 listing on the house..which meant it could hardly be touched..hence it fell into disrepair..and is now beyond economic restoration.its now owned by a Dutch couple who cant rebuild it..and are only interested in taking pot shots at deer.

Phil fuggin collins!

I remember visiting the house in the learly 80's with my uncle - amazinf how quickly buildings fall to bits especially in the damp of Argyll

THE former occupant of a stately Mull house

yesterday criticised the present owners, pop group Genesis.

A recent report from the Scottish Civic Trust claims the 10-roomed Pennyghael House, near Bunessan, is being neglected.

Mrs Janet Glaisher, who lived at Pennyghael and farmed the 8050 acre estate with her late husband, David, before the Genesis purchase in 1985, said: ''Any sensible person cares for what they own.

''If Genesis will not look after the place, they should sell out to someone who can. We feel very strongly about it.''

Mr John Gerrard, civic trust director, said: ''The building is listed and known to be in a poor state of repair. Its owners are responsible for keeping it in a better condition.''

Genesis trio Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford, with manager Tony Smith, invested #500,000 in the stalking estate overlooking Ben More.

A spokesman for the group said yesterday: ''The house was damp.

''Genesis meant to

demolish the two wings and restore the main building. However, restrictions imposed by the trust and steady criticism has halted the work. Why the house is listed baffles me.''

He said Genesis were fed up with the controversy. ''It would probably cost more today in recession to restore the house than the whole estate is worth on the market.''

Two years ago, Genesis put the estate and house up for sale for #1.1m. Apparently there were no takers.

There are two managers handling forestry, farming and holiday letting.

A spokesman for Argyll and Bute District Council said it had written to Genesis urging them to act more responsibly with the estate but had received no reply.
