Well…….

Apologies…….

YouTube Binge day……..

I love backing a loser………..

Especially a certain to be loser………

Thanks to @Pauly1  (hopefully the right one) I was directed from Vice Grip Garage To Pole Barn Garage and have started at “Genesis” for the Holey Goat.

Certain not to be 90% of people's thing but they don’t count in this specific arena.

Only those with an interest in the macabre

So…….. let’s see how long this holds my interest.

I still owe you guys/gals an upload of pics and the next part of the Top Secret Shed Build.

We will get to it.

Soon

Maybe.

Bunch of pics coming up. Hopefully they load.

So next up.

Roofing, insulation, panelling, painting and a sudden surprise change of direction.

Yup….. changed direction.

King of random things doing random things.

So here goes.

Video on my YouTube channel already.

Next up…….

Random change of direction.

Both Form and Function changes

Sound familiar?

So I thought that a small bit of space gained was worth having.

Digging a hole for myself here.

Further digging and whatever else…..

Progress I guess.

I love trees and wood.

And recycling old and older timber throws up some pretty good stuff.

Oh, and I refelted the whole roof so that it all is now new.

Hopefully it will last a few years.

So what next?

I don’t know and I certainly don’t remember.

Sound familiar?

Just me ?

Ahhhh yes, cladding the porch in hardwood…….

Seriously one of my favourite parts and results so far.

I also started straightening the aluminium door frame that I had collected before. And the door still had to be repaired.

Look closely all you zoomers, the pics do change.

Some super random pics in the interim.

My 1963 Ford Taunus Transit came from Germany 17 years ago.

Dennis continues to build up the Chevelle

Missouri weather, like a lot of America right now sucks.

Today the i70 motorway is down to one lane.  About 12 inches of snow. Not a lot, but enough to switch many brains off in cars.

But as we know, life goes on.

In other news,@craigrk sold a car and the new owner, Brodie generously brought my small galvanised trailer back for me. So now I can fetch stuff.

Quickly see if I can get a few pics up.

Door progress, wall panels in pure plywood with varnish and a third coat of paint, another new color or colour that eventually made me happy.

Almost time to get the ceiling in.

Avoided it for a while but it needed to go in.

Edited over an hour of a weeks worth of shed building down to under 30 minutes today.

I then also spent about 45 minutes with my good friend Martin in Scotland discussing men’s mental health and building barstool racers plus motorised trikes. Just as we were about to say good bye we restarted the chat around diesel heaters, campervans and heating up small spaces. Martin convinced me that I needed one for the shed.

So I texted The Oracle that is friend Sparkplug.
I am fortunate enough to be able to count him under my short list of close friends.
Fil has installed about 5 of these diesel heaters and rebuilt and stripped down a few.

2 hours and 2 minutes later, Fil had educated me on the intricacies of diesel heating and ordered all the kit I needed to install a midrange “Chinese diesel heater” on my behalf. It was perfectly price reduced on Evilbay and the total was only £132.00  Paypal ensured Fils money was back in his pocket before the order was even registered.
Technology ehhhhh ?

I am absolutely amazed at what comes in the kit for installation at the price.

So once delivered to Fil in Cambridge, we will arrange an installation date.

A few pics for the picture hungry among us.

Later.

that looks like a good idea - positioned close to the outside lav????

Not sure yet.

To be decided once Fil comes to visit and we see what’s available.

What I am going to do today when it warms up is go out and scavenge.

I want to find a small, used radiator, preferably a chrome bathroom unit to route the heater exhaust through, obviously dry not with water in and that could increase efficiencies to optimistically 5% energy loss.

Looking outside this morning it was -3’C and frosty everywhere with white roofs.

I have been experimenting with a 2KW or 2000W finned oil filled heater running in the shed the last 48 hours and even on a 1 setting, presumably 1kW or 1000W the roof with its 75mm insulation was completely frosted.

This implies minimal if any heat left ss through the roof.

This obviously cannot be said for all of the shed.

Looking forward to the whole “Chinese Diesel Heater” installation episode.

I would think hard about running the exhaust through a radiator. Yes, you will recover some more heat, but you’re going to have a physically big lump in a small space that’s heated to a point where you could seriously hurt yourself if you inadvertently leant on it. The shed is a small space, and you’re not going to need that much heat in it. There’s also the issue with really unpleasant residues condensing out of the exhaust when you cool it right down.

Agree with @GlenAnderson, point one -  how big is the exhaust on the heater ? the size of pipe on the radiator is probably considerably smaller - restricting the exhaust gas flow would probably upset the burner/heater ( thermostatic exhaust bypass valve needed?  🤔), fairly simple solution now getting expensive...

While point two could be mitigated with trap and drain ... subject to consideration points in point one .

Novel approach though! 😊

George not interested.

Wanted dinner.

I wanted to wait a bit till after 6.00pm.

So what does he do to punish me?

I've got one of those chinese diesel heaters in our greenhouse, I've bought extra exhsust pipe to run around the base of the wall ( runs downhill from the heater so condensate drains). I've also wired the remote control into a 12v power supply and thermostat so it switches off and on automatically. Its woeking brilliantly at the moment using about a litre a day in the current cold weather.

Morning Kevin

Trust all is good with you and your gang.

Thank you for your reply.

I need to find something in cast iron to ensure the exhaust heat is sensibly dispersed.

Quite excited to learn about these heaters and how clever one can make them.
