grizz Posted November 6 Author Posted November 6 My current secret not so secret secret project is secretly keeping me busy. It is taking time. Cutting, measuring, finding, not wasting materials, fetching materials etc. Yesterday evening I drove 17 miles to collect this mirror. Advertisement said Chatham. To me that’s where my bank and the Turkish restaurant is….. 7 miles from here. As I had committed and said I would be fetching it, having sold the same car radio to Eastern Bloc sounding names 10 times before the 11th guy actually came to pay and collect it, I hate peoples laziness about fetching stuff. So 90 minutes and 33 miles later, I had a £5.00 bargain mirror. So in real terms, it probably cost me £25.00 or more. But it suits the build. Over the weekend I bought 5 1/2 sheets of used 12mm construction plywood for £8/sheet and £5 for a 5 foot section. Plus I gave Mickey £10 for diesel (well, he buys beer) On the way back, we stopped and collected a2 meter by 500mm or 7’ x 18” fiberglass awning for my back door, FREE I had been looking for one to buy a long time. Both the plywood and awning got a good cleanup with the pressure washer. The awning also got bleack gel as it kills the fungal moss that grows on fiberglass. Again……… It all takes time. .

grizz Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 Back to uploading the USA trip pics Kinda random So after breakfast we headed towards Memphis. @CraigRK doing driving duties for us. Backroads are best, unless you are in a hurry We made it back to St Louis and Dennis’s place late afternoon. Beer and Fireball welcomes any traveler. 24vdiamond and Westbay 2
grizz Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 Next day we all went out for breakfast at a small, nondescript cafe that serves great food and good company. One of the customers there has this VW Beetle based special. Really nice. While were out, Craig and I saw this little compressor on the side of the road. Did a U-Turn and picked it up. Never got to test it. Also didn’t tell @djones1a as we forgot. 24vdiamond, Jenson Velcro and Westbay 3
grizz Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 Later in the day Craig and I went shopping. Love me a hardware store. And had a sandwich. Craig also packed he wife's-broom that he had made at Andy’s place in Oklahoma. Jenson Velcro, Westbay and 24vdiamond 3

grizz Posted November 15 Author Posted November 15 Vw caddy mk2 pickup. 1.9 diesel manual Bought the car earlier this year as a project car and have repaired the rear wheel arch, required welding on rear sill and arch still. Car runs and drives but needs jump starting as battery is dead. No Mot. It will need recovering I am sure there are opinions out there. But what is the real world value. And a few photos.
Westbay Posted November 16 Posted November 16 "scene tax" aside ...there's a lot of work there to get anywhere near 'good' .... what's the rest of the body like? mechanically ? needs a set of wiper blades at least ! 🤣
GlenAnderson Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Real world value? Whatever it weighs. Jenson Velcro, grizz and Westbay 1 2
GlenAnderson Posted November 16 Posted November 16 I’m normally quite happy to encourage you in whatever direction your leaping off into, but quite frankly that Caddy just screams “totally neglected shitter” to me. If you really want to just throw your money away, then it would be easier and cheaper to buy the Canta back. 🤣 Westbay, grizz and JamesD 1 2

grizz Posted November 17 Author Posted November 17 Been a week since I last came to use Sallys internet. More pics for anyone interested. Saturday morning we had breakfast at Pete’s as is customary. Then headed to the airport in Dennis’ restored GMC Jimmy to see Craig off. On the way after breakfast, we saw a couple of very nice cars……. Guess what?? Car show detour. Some nice stuff and cheap $5.00 T-Shirts. Can’t resist a cheap T.
grizz Posted November 17 Author Posted November 17 After dropping Craig off, Dennis and I headed off for a special treat……… One shop….. Eye watering prices. More to come. I am sure you will find there’s something there for you all. Westbay 1
grizz Posted November 28 Author Posted November 28 More cars from the same shop. There’s some serious inventory there. Westbay 1
grizz Posted November 29 Author Posted November 29 Right. More pics. As random as before but in sequence. If you don’t like them, sorry, not sorry I guess. Someone may like them. I need to wrap this trip up and get to the last 6 weeks worth of solo build. Another adventure to make some of you shake your head. On the way back from dropping Craig off, Dennis went to the Missouri Bank drive through bank to do some transactions. Girl in the booth was awaome. Back home a visit from a friend to show the rebuilt ElCamino. Dinner later saw a cool mixed pickup. . Jenson Velcro 1
grizz Posted November 29 Author Posted November 29 More yes. Some Chevelle work, a drive and lunch. Zoom in on the one Harley side covers. Yes lunch was good. Westbay and Jenson Velcro 2
grizz Posted November 29 Author Posted November 29 More stuff…… On the way home we stopped at a farm produce stand. All products displayed openly. Priced. Cash box in the corner. And nobody steals. Love it. Then stop number two was a beer shop. I got myself a case of these……. Amazing margaritas. Next day I headed over to friend Warren’s place. Open hospitality and a guard dog. grizz Posted November 29 Author Posted November 29 Awesome time at Warrens. Retirement suits some people. He has some incredibly cool stuff and hobbies too. Then we also took his golf kart and drive around the estate, with me teasing some of his retired neighbors, police, marines and airforce guys. Good people. He also showed me the Chevelle he bought from Dennis years ago and restored. Yes, video has been posted before. Still cool. Jenson Velcro and Westbay 2
grizz Posted November 29 Author Posted November 29 Next day Adam and I went to town. Met up with Dave and Warren for lunch at Ethyl’s. You can guess the rest. . Yes…. Kelly. . Jenson Velcro, Westbay, MrBig and 1 other 4

grizz Posted November 30 Author Posted November 30 1 hour ago, Westbay said: Good to see some ehhmm, 'old' faces ! Could live with this very happily ... I have driven that, with to previous modifications and old engine, and it was good. It intimidated me then. Ed Bay is a long retired, Toyota mechanic, off roader, biker and allround great guy. This truck was built for his daughter who previously declined it (8-10 years ago) because it was a pretty brutal street racer. Now it has a new modified crate motor and many more modifications to make it really useable. And she is not getting it back. You would love it. Westbay 1
grizz Posted December 4 Author Posted December 4 So…..?? When you have been to see Kelly and she made you feel like handing over your wallet with cards and cash, where do you go from there?? You go home and get some mower blades and Railroad spike knives hardened, then we all start to celebrate Dennis’ birthday. Crown Royal. Not just any Crown, the rare and great stuff. Blackberry I managed to get two bottles. Thanks to @Sparkplug for buying Dennis a bottle as well. Westbay 1
