Rebuilding a carburettor!

I'm looking at sorting out my fueling system on my car. I've done loads on ECI etc, but the last time I encountered a carb was when I was 17 in the mid 90's.

The car started juddering the other day, incidentally when I filled the tank to the brim. Today it's nearly impossible to drive as it's not getting fuel properly (I'm sure spark is fine as there's no typical banging and blackness)! I'm going to check everything else (considering it had a full engine rebuild with a full service last year), but want to know some advice about carbs if anyone could help!
