the '79 Daimler was pressed into immediate action this morning as my Pringle pastel jumper and slacks mobile - aka the Lexus LS400 is in Edinburgh and I've sold my dahn sarff daily to torsten who is coming to drink beer tonight.New battery, some oil, a fill up and a burn up and down the M1 for 30 miles and it seems to be working a treat! £80 to fill up both tanks though - friggin ouch!driving it gives me a semi quite franklyI will get some pics up to show some of the wonderful rust holes - the inside has that smell of leather, oil, petrol and damp that is so common in 30 year old jags

Carburtootered Series 2, or Injected Series 3? I'm assuming there's a bit of 4.2 action going on?I had a Tudor white Series 3 XJ6 3.4 with red leathers, March 1979 on the T - one of the very first.

Would have liked to dust off my daimler, only some git nicked the plates off it down me storage. Bit stupid really, cos it's not taxed.

upgraded the RAC membership to rescue today - the Daimler has to get me from Herts to Lincoln tomorrow and then onto Edinburgh - good workout which should identify any issues - here's hping to getting back under my own steam - getting fed up of late nights on the hard shoulder with the c0cking Moggy!!!

yeah - tell me about it - fortunately:a/ I have been driving around in XJ40s for a while including a DD6b/ I think the 28-30mpg my LS400 returns is excellent so I am conditioned to gas guzzlershaving said that - it cost me £85 to fill her up yesterday on cheap sainsbury petrol as well....ouch!!!60mph methinks - keep the revs below 2,100of course I can also claim the fuel as a travel expense so I shouldn't be whining. The car is getting valeted tomorrow am by the guy who does the company cars at work - complete bargain £20 in and out for a £50 job

When we bought our Daimler, we could only get £30 in between both tanks, so I reckon it had maybe £80 in it already?
