Albert Ross Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I have just returned to work after a 9 day break. I work at a main Vauxhall dealer, and we get a few trade ins. Today on "death row" there was a very pretty Montego Estate winking at me. 7 seater Countryman in Mallard green/Blue. Turbo D.....price to me? £60......67000 miles and MOT for at least 3 months, I had to have it. So I spoke to the chap who dealt with it, only to be told the scrapman was having it. I pleaded, but to no avail. The scrapman was stood next to him. He had already paid.It had Epsom Rover plates, tax disc holder, and rear window sticker. It was a honey. He tries to start it, and the immobiliser held fast, so it looked like it wouldn't start. A reprieve!!!! Not to be alas. It went eventually. First flick of the key when the immobiliser let go. BOLLOCKS!!!! I waved goodbye. What a total loss. I reckon the reg was K183NGO, and I hope they feel proud to have deprived the world of a kwality banger!Set of CUNTS!!!!!!!
Mr Lobster Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Bugger. Sorry to hear that, doesn't seem very fair does it. I s'pose they just work on the basis of whoever gets here first with the cash but even so...
Guest Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 If its as good as it sounds itll be on Ebay at 495 Buy it Now before the weekend.
Albert Ross Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 We apparently have a contract to dispose of all cars with a value of less than "X" according to Glass's guide. Therefore it was destined to be crushed, yes, but not as part of the Ecoflex system, as it was traded against a used car. I did however liberate the spare wheel with brand new tyre (My Sierra has the same size) so if anyone needs a Montego 14" steel, I have one here....................If I had acted 24 hours earlier, I could have saved it, but I wasn't back at work until yesterday, and had no chance to enquire until lunchtime, so it was just unfortunate the guy was stood there. The car had been on site a week, therefore "in the way" according to them that make the decisions. Oh well.......they know to look out next time! The sales controller normally comes to me to tell me of them coming in, I missed out on a F plater Carina Estate the other year due to the same situation. Another loss.....Bangered apparently!
Mr Lobster Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I know of a few dealers who automatically ring the scrapman when cars over a certain age get traded in but I suppose thats not to say they get scrapped, no scrap man worth is salt will frag something he can sell and make a few quid on I guess.
FredTransit Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 That's the problem, most scrap men are not worth their salt, otherwise why damage stuff in the yard that can be converted into cash? makes you want to open a scrap yard.....
