Robbing bastard insurers

Well, glad it's not just me that Admiral is trying to rob! My renewal for the 406 was £296 - about £50 more than last year. Has anything changed asked Doris at the call centre, I told her that one thing had, I'm a year bleeding well older!!! I did the comparison site shuffle and the likes of Privilege and Churchill (both I've used before) were £162 & £166 resp (add £27 for legal).

I told them this and guess what? The price fell to £219 - ie: that's a £77 reduction, WTF? I've since tried Aviva and they are under £200 and Carol Nash who I've got the GTi, the 5 & the LC with on classic policies, do a scheme for bikers that will beat your renewal quote if you have it in writing by £10 so they are doing it all in for £209. All you need is the renewal document and a copy of your licence showing you've got a full bike (A) category on your licence.

Although I've had good prices from Admiral in the past, they are taking the piss now and despite there not being much difference I'm binning them off as I'm so pissed that they would have been happy to fuck me over for the extra £77 if I had just auto-renewed. Looking forward to calling them and telling them this plus advising them that if there's any error and they do 'mistakenly' renew (which has happened to a couple of friends of mine in the last year or so) and charge me, I will be charging them £50 for this.

I did the gocompare thing this week for my V70.

Tesco came up uber cheap.

I always include breakdown cover, but guess what, Tesco don't cater for cars over 16 years old.

May still be worth going with them and getting separate breakdown cover though.
