BL day reportage

It's great to see a field of BL stuff.

I ran a garage from 1990 till 2001 and i reckon i must of changed hundreds of montego/maestro/metro wheel bearings in that time and welded countless metro ''cheesy triangles'' (the bit of floor pan at the front edge towards the wheel),then there were the oil leaks from cam covers and diff/gear selector seals to sort out,oh and leaky maestro rear shocks.

I could go on and on..

What i am trying to say is i made a good living from fixing these cars and would have gone hungry relying on the jap stuff from the same period,so thankyou BL.

Yes they were poorly designed and many parts used didn't last long but the cars had great character and their owners were often very loyal to the brand and repeatedly forgave their shonkyness.

Long may they continue to be fettled and cherished by their owners.

Agreed. A great day out and some great old BL cars and and equally mad owners and, as usual, the weather was glorious. Great autojumble as well.

More publicity wouldn't go amiss and it's poorly signposted from all the roads nearby, so it can easily be missed.
