Just got the first of many out of the way.

Exhaust welded, cv boots re secured, faulty brake lights fixed, puncture repaired and new valve fitted, put on the ramp for a good greasing and check over. And the cost, including the test £85, Raj your a star!

Renault 4 next week then the H van the week after, thats going to be more of a task as its been sitting for 3 years now and shows no sign of wanting to start.

Happy days...

How was your first time?

My GS was supposed to go in last Saturday for its first MOT in my ownership. However it never even made it there as it shit the bed a few days before and needed a new ignition coil. Working now, so just need to rearrange.

Always a bit nerve racking when it's a new car to you.

Put my mr2 in last week and it failed on a few areas if welding and a rear wheel bearing. I can't weld and changing the wheel bearing sounded like a bugger of a job so has cost me a few hundred pounds but about what I expected. All Bundy off here did the welding at a reasonable price and he did an excellent job. Very impressed. I'll post up photos when I get a minute. It's going back in for the wheel bearing and re-test next week. I haven't had a car pass first time for a few years now, even though I try to keep on top of maintenance.

i got the mini tested 10 days ago, it went straight through with one advise, that the n/s/r brake had reduced efficiency.

we've had the drum off and one of the pistons in the wheel cylinder was a bit slow on the uptake. we've given it all a damn good clean and it seems to be working better now. as the car hasn't been bothered with for the last 6 months i'm happy about that.

next one is the jag in june, then the rover in july and finally the metro in september.

i don't think there will be any problems with the exception of the rovers hand brake. i think the handbrake on the os isn't making as much of an effort as it should be doing.

On the home straight with my MR2, now.

Have rebuilt all of the brakes, timing belt and water pump, alternator rebuild, fitted uprated intercooler, clutch, coolant flush, full service, cleaned loads of parts up (oil leak) etc, as well as doing some stuff to make it look better.

Bled the brakes last night. Clutch bleed is next, then sort out the reluctance to rev - think the timing belt may be out a tooth!

This car is new to me, having bought it with a slipping clutch at the end of last year and then took it off the road for winter/work, after about 1000 miles, so fingers crossed!
