Tow bar drop plate

I'm I right in assuming that you cannot use a towbar drop plate the other way to raise the front of the trailer?

Whyever not? If it's not braced, it sould be as strong either way up, provided it will physically fit.

Reading through that website they say a definite NO.

The adjustment kit can only take 2 tonne, so as my trailer can weigh up to 3 tonnes loaded it's probably not a good idea.

As you can see in the picture, it's not a big problem but just when I'm loading cars which are a bit low, I sometimes have to jack the back of the van up to lower the back of the trailer slightly.

I may even look into some sort of air spring assister set up on the back of the van to raise it when loading :-)

What I don't want is the towbar to fail and have a 3 tonne missile flying down the motorway. It has a breakaway cable but it won't activate if half the towbar is still attached to the front of the trailer ;-)

That looks a good level for towing, if the tow ball was higher the tail of the trailer would be lower and could cause snaking. If your loading low cars could you load unhitched? Jocky wheel up and steadies down on the back of the trailer?
