V5 question?

When i recently bought my Triumph the previous owner only had the logbook that was issued to him...from 1981!

Its been of the road since Jan 93,i sorted the insurance today,but i,am worried the DVLA will just laugh at the 1981 V5 i sent them recorded delivery.

Will they be o.k and issue a modern V5 or will they just laugh at it?,the previous owner sent the bottom section.

I bought a car couple of years ago with the late 90s style single page v5 and that was fine , so can't see there being a problem

I asked for the 1981 V5 to be returned if they didn,t need it,and today it arrived with CANCELLED stamped on both sides,i guess this is looking good for me receiving a current style V5.

My plan is then to get the Triumph MOTed shortly,hold out until April 1st then walk into the post office with the docs and a change to Historic on the V5 and get a years rent for free...
