Apart from the arches, these cars are pretty well rust proofed.

Yes, you're right, but this one had 200K miles, had lived parked on grass for many years, had a huge sunroof leak for at least five years hence five years of not just damp carpets.  I could go on.  I have never seen as bad a Mk3 in scrapyard.
