Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Just yesterday came back from my 2 weeks home in Kent. My old merc did well, kept up with modern (fucking mental fairy light Audis mostly) traffic no bother. Called in a few favours and got the sills and jack points welded up and painted too, ready for german MOT equivalent this week. Here are a few pics from my brief stay. Sorry for multiple posts but pasting photobucket links on a tablet with fat fingers is fucking tedious to say the least.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140818_072338.jpg.html] Went down to Broadstairs to get a passport application form andthere was only one pplace I could park early on a monday morning. The interior of the blue one was shot, looked very down at heel, driven by a middle aged bloke who didn't appreciate me waving and giving him the thumbs up on his choice of motor.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Spotted at the bodyshop in Sittingbourne where my cousin works. Groovy paintjob. He also had other yank vans in but nothing quite so interesting
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Nice old bedford being slowly restored.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Shhhh whats that noise? You can almost hear this one rusting
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140820_174759.jpg.html] Mk1 tranny getting some attention
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Giffer owned from new apparently until he drove it into the crash barrier. But getting repaired.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Proton being converted into 4wd using evo running gear, will be a fearsome thing if/ when it gets finished.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Donor evo, rolled over and gave up.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140820_175247.jpg.html] I rather liked this, rolling restoration, crusty patches here and there.
mercrocker Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 That Bedford JO is chock full of Win....Nice to see a Mk3 Granny being rebuilt with its windows still in as well. I notice, too, that other old Merc users are a funny lot and rarely appreciate that somebody else might think their car is cool. I get great response when driving anything else but never the 190.... Wackeldackel 1
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Next one is an OLDSKOOLFORD any ford pervs may wish to close the curtains and get the tissues
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140820_174919.jpg.html] 1972 Mk1 escort mexico with harris engine
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140820_181036.jpg.html]Nice looking at first glance, but comprehensively rotten and badly repaired after taking a second look, lots of lumpy filler and crunchy crustiness
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140822_144455.jpg.html]URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140822_144446.jpg.html] Went down to Hythe for fish and chips (won't tell you where as you'll all bloody start going there) and saw this old girl in the car park by the malt house. Dealer plates and stickers, Hesway motors of Loampit Vale, Lewisham, the Ziebart stickers probably go some way to explain the logevity and lack of rust. Old couple were the owners, on a blue disabled badge too. Really tidy inside as well.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140823_110304.jpg.html] Another old merc, 1979 W116 450sel, the 4.5litre V8 not the 6.9. Owned by my dad's mate for the last 15 years. 3 speed auto and pulls like a train. Mechanically its spot on, only 79, 000 miles with a full history and all MOTs. The bodywork is starting to get shabby and interior is also showing its age. Might be going up for sale as well. I did say I'd be interested but not till the new year, watch this space....
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 The P plate on the merc is a vanity plate, its not a 1976
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Lunchtime pint on bank holiday Monday in Canterbury (my home town) and spotted this old Jaaaaaaag xj6 on the way home. Looked tidy, but it was pissing down at the time.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140827_150220.jpg.html]URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140827_150208.jpg.html] 1958 Ford popular, at the paintshop where I got my sills done. Lovely to see, and it's in regular use as well
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 1948 Anglia also at the paintshop, this does run!! But will be a while until it looks as good as the popular.
Wackeldackel Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140827_152137.jpg.html]URL=http://s603.photobucket.com/user/oioisonnyboy/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140827_152134.jpg.html] Assortment of old grot driven by the eastern Europeans and their gangmasters, seen parked in the village where my parents live. Plus bonus milkfloat shite!
