clio mk1 1.8 16v alternator fitting?

Bit of a stickler,

I've been asked to quote on fitting an alternator on a mk1 clio 1.8 16v and being that these are a rare old beast these days (don't think i've ever been near one!) info seems a bit thin on the ground. The car is a 50 mile round trip away and knowing Renault for making even the simplest job the mosty long winded knuckle-skinning nightmare it can possibly be, i'd like to actually make some sort of money out of doing it. Wouldn't be so bad if it was able to make it to my garage but its a total non runner apparently.

Anyone got any ideas?? engine out or piss easy?

I had a 1.8 16v ages ago and if I remember right i wipped the bonnet off just 4 bolts and a wire and took the headlight off and it wasnt too bad, but dont take that as gospel as it was a while ago.

Top man, I did a later 1.5 dci alternator about a year ago and that was headlamp out too I think, from pics on the 'net it looks like its tucked right under the inlet so maybe a drop out from underneath jobby with the lamp out to access the bolts.
