Buying from Germany?

I,ve recently seen a few cheap Safrane V6s in Germany recently on E-bay,and have my eye on one at the moment

Can i ask what is involved in bringing one into the U.K(drivable but not roadworthy)and what type of price should i be looking at the collect one from there, lastly is there anyone on here who does such a thing at a price, just need to weight up the costs???

I've got a fair bit of free time- wouldn't mind going on an epic shite collecting mission for not a lot more than my expenses.

I have looked into importing something from Germany before. There is a little bit of bureaucracy involved with the export plate malarkey, but as far as I can remember, it's nothing particularly difficult or complicated.

If, however, you add up all the costs (€200-odd for the export plates etc, £250 in expenses to go there and bring it back, £80 or so for UK registration and plates), it doesn't seem to really be worth it. You're probably better off keeping your eyes peeled for when something surfaces over here.

Hi

Many thanks for the info,i,am actually only buying it for spares so have no intention of making it roadworthy in the U.K.

So it would be trailered back here then stripped, its a spares car already over there with several problems listed.

Ah, I see. I guess the way to make this work is to convince the seller that you are only buying it for spares, so that they can deregister it and you don't have to bother with export plates and all that jazz. But I have no idea of whether that's possible and/or easy.

This. Just deregister. You get the title for the car but no plates.
