  1. Carried on from CraigthePrincess' thread which details this being trailerd home. I've been told this is the friendly go to place for all bad ideas that have a motor of some sort attached. At some point in everyone's life they decide they need a motorbike, a decade and a half later getting a place with a garage makes this a real possibility. So I headed off to do my CBT with the intention of doing a full DAS course, however as I was the slowest person to complete a CBT whilst actually enjoying it (the radio message of 'it's a bit embarrassing to let the bloke on a moped get away) sums up my riding. The instructor recommended I get a 125 to pootle around on and do my full licence next year. Now I'd been looking at 'proper bikes' with mot'd sv650s starting at a grand, I was a tad unimpressed to find that for the same money you can be the proud owner of a 15 owner 25 year old all drum brake 50mph CG125. Yes the upside is that you can always sell it for what you pay, but wheres the fun in that? So given all I needed was something simple and easy to get a bit of experience and confidence riding on the roads the obvious thing to do was buy a high mileage slightly tired 2 stroke import from France that needs registering and as such won't be on the road till the weather has properly turned and I've missed the last dregs of summer. First thing is to get it it's mot so I can send off for the registration, it's booked in for tomorrow on a wing and a prayer, I'm hoping they'll be kind to it just so I can get the ball rolling. Once MOT'd there are a few things that need sorting on the bike, first up is the choke is stuck into the carb in the down position (you can see it in the middle of the photo) is there anyway of unsticking this without taking the whole carb off? Enough of the waffeling, like sun readers we're only here for the pictures so.
  2. I've wanted a wing for ages, something about the Liberace excessiveness really appeals. Life's moved me 25 M4 motorway junctions from my friends, all of them heavily trafficked and policed, and that's putting a crimp on me playing "bike with my friends " I've had all sorts of bikes but never a super full fat tourer. Seems like the appropriate time. The Honda goldwing is the long term champion. For the millennium it had a generation change and honda took it very seriously. Aluminium frame by their top designer, flat 6 engine located deliberately low down. Abs, cruise control. Reverse gear, Fake leather seats and a CD player. Not generally cheap though. And maybe does have vague line dancing associations. Ta daa. The cheapest gl1800 in the country for quite some time. Been stood outside uncovered for most of the year, MOT expired, moss growing on it. Bartered it down a good bit from cheapish to cheap enough, insured it, booked a MOT, strapped on and fucked off full commitment style. Most adventurous thing I've done in ages. No brakes until lots of squeezing and stamping, no indicators as the switch just flapped about, everything just stuck/crusty/jerky. It's huge. Tyres are flatish and it's tramlining horribly on the shitty road surface. And I'm concentrating very hard, it's been a while since I did any miles on a weighty bike. And it weighs 350ish kg. 30 minutes later I'm sat on the motorway on cruise control in a blast of heated air with my visor up grinning like a Cheshire cat. It's ridiculous, it's hilarious. Left it with the MOT man and picked it up today Schwing for the Wing 😁 It's a bit crusty ... But I don't care as it sounds like a Porsche when you rev it. Although it looks like a generation 6 accord dashboard was the starting point Everything needs going over . I have no idea what the extras do Stickers to come off around the place but not sure if the tank regiment is ironic? Picked it up from the garage and the mot man was doing Friday afternoon wheelies πŸ˜„ Got it home the longest way I had time for which involved through town Friday afternoon traffic and it was fine. Wide, but surprisingly controllable, I even did some gentle filtering. So yeah - check out my wing , it's a-mezz-in😊
