i tagged each one and even looked up the number plates on the DVLA site!

I do that. When i am watching them I have a pen and paper to jot down the number plates and when its finished pop upstairs to look on the Doovla website.

However now I know you have catalogued them I wont have to do that anymore. I don't keep a record, I just jot them on envelopes. I did keep enough once to average out the age of the average car and I think it was 9.4 years on the road for the ones I had.

And to answer your question, it will undoubtedly be geeky. To most people on here who are also geeks, its cool.

Thank you Trigger! Lovely stuff. Did anyone else notice that DLO 97M (as shown on the white Cortina) also appeared on the blue one in at least one episode?

Especially thank you for the title shot. This has to be the one that Ford didn't dare wish for, that planted the view of the Granada in the mind of the public week after week, showing it as a strong, capable high-performance car. I watched the DVD set earlier this year, and was surprised how little actual chase action the bronze Consul saw. And yet that's what we remember, that week after week it was flung around west London in pursuit of an old Jag, which it invariably caught. Bafta for the marketing men, I think...

And a Vauxhall Viva HB saloon in the 1st Sweeney film - Sweeney! driven by George Carter as his own car.

Also notice DLO97M is on the white Cortina GT which is really NWC 300P. They had the habit of swapping plates about. I don't own any of the films which is a shame as I'd like to get screenshots of them as well.

I can't wait to get started on The Professionals, That's even better for old cars! :P

Edit - I've just repeated what Eddy said, just ignore me

This is what i was thinking off, it was also on the Kadett from the lake.

Can I just take this opportunity to recommend a programme called "Romanzo Criminale"

It's on Tuesdays 21:00 Sky Arts 1

It's Italian & set in the 1970's.

The story is OK but as for, 'that Alfetta has been following us for a while'

& a kidnap using a Fiat 900 bus thing, it's unbeatable.

Was the film of the same name a spin off, or did they make a series out of the film?

Its the on street pics I love with the Sweeney - there was a lot of damaged wrecks in the way of cars and some buildings you just dont get now.

I downloaded VLC media player to my PC and watch the dvd through that, there's a tab at the top which allows you to take a snapshot.

I'm glad your all enjoying them, I've just bought both Sweeney films as well as Regan of ebay so I'll do those once they turn up as well.

Or you can use any software at all and just press the 'print screen' button on yer keyboard! Though it's 2011 and everyone really should be using VLC by now anyway.

Cheers Trig, these are great and it's reminded me there is still quite a bit of the show I've not seen. Really wish I'd got one of the box sets when they were ultra cheap :?

I might do some for 'Regan' later if I can be arsed (can't actually remember how much car content there is in that one though)

This is great Trig. Good work. 8)8)

Love the Sweeny too. I got the whole series box set from Blockbuster in Redcar. It was only £9.99. I couldn't believe it. :D:D

I have wondered how you do those screen grabs. I have VLC on my laptop, so I will investigate. I will have a go with 'The chinese detective'. Loads of tat in that.

What great uploads from my favourite ever series!

Anyone spot the Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane on three wheels and a rather rare late 70s Mazda saloon in white on one? Plus at least two Simca 1500s.

Would like to know what episode featured that airport scene with the MEA 747 and a yellow Trident?? What airline was that I wonder?

Great stuff Triggles. I didn't really like The Sweeney or Professionals. Too 'gritty' for my delicate constitution back then. I much preferred escapism stuff like Return Of The Saint or Wilde Alliance.

I particularly like this pic...but can't fathom the white car on the left. Wartburg possibly?

These are excellent Trigger - I assume this is the re-write of the thread you lost the other night! It's good to be reminded how colourful the roads were when metallic paint cost extra.

Also, this is typical of cheating hiabing bastards:

The car weighs more over the 'bridge when the interior's soaking!

^^THIS^^ is EXACTLY what I used to do. Jot them down on anything I could find, then check them up on the DVLA site, sometimes having to use the RAC site to find out exactly what make they were registered as. I used to have tones of tiny ripped up pieces of envolope with various registrations on them laying about the place.

I've also done Minder as well, It's taken bloody ages as there's so many episodes, I've got to 1993 and the 9th Series but have lost interest as most of the cars are a bit mundane towards the end, I've just strated The Professionals now as well. :D

Have a few more Sweeney shots.

Do the pair of you have girlfriends?

Depends why you are asking. If its because you want all 3 of us to go out on a date, the night ending with one of us being 'Lucky Pierre, then yes I am married sorry to disappoint you. If it is simply because I geek out at the car number plates then obviously no.

I did put a wink at the end of that statement but had to remove it as I could not figure out if that made it look like I meant the opposite of the statement and I wanted to be lucky Pierre after all. Just to be clear, its not something I would be interested in.
