Negative Creep
So the MR2 is due to end on ebay in around 24 hours, currently on a rather dismal £250 quid so I don't have a good feeling. Keeping an eye on ebay, autotrader, Pistonheads and Gumtree but there's an amazing shortage of anything cheap. But hey, let's be optimistic and say it actually sells and the buyer turns up. Since I'll need a new car right after does anyone in the South West have anything for sale? Will only have around £500 to spend and needs something with an MOT as I don't have time for projects. Anything going? Yay 2000 posts!
Cavcraft
Pog's mate's Astra? That is (was?) super cheap and has a bit of MOT and rent too.
warren t claim
I've got a sexy gold Micra for little money. Megabus drivers all have +e on their bus licences so A framing it back to Plymouth for £1 (+50p booking fee) is a possibility.

Luxobarges_Are_Us
Well, I'm not really sure about what to do with the Accord (not that anyone could ever accuse me of being indecisive ), so it may be available. It's got MOT till February and, despite the predictions of doom about the clutch and radiator, it doesn't really need any immediate work (changes gear alright and doesn't lose water)...well, it could do with a new timing belt, but I have a feeling that the current one would outlast the MOT and the internetz say (so it must be true!) it's non-interference outside VTEC so just keep it below 5k and you are alright. However, living in Plymouth, you'd have to spend a boatload of money (not to mention a ridiculous amount of time) getting here (Sheffield) and back, so I still wouldn't do it if I were you. Luxobarges_Are_Us
I think the main problem is that your location is a bit out of the way. Buy a cheap advance ticket to London for Sunday, and spend all day moving about by tube and looking at the chod offered by Polish immigrants and/or Pakistani home-based traders...you're bound to find something. M'coli
I've got a veggiematic cavalier you can have for £250, but its a long way from you (CW1)It's around £20 by Megabus from Plym to Manc, then assuming 30mpg, about £60 to get from there home. Get it bought.
Guest Leonard Hatred
I like the 405 you posted in the eBay tat thread. Buy that if the seller lets you.
Luxobarges_Are_Us
Unless you stumble upon the 1 pound promotional fares, Mingebus is a false economy...you can usually find similarly-priced train tickets up to a day before departure. But I agree, Mr Bol's Chavalier needs saving!

Negative Creep
This Volvo 850, which is straight up the M5 appears to be staggering value!http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.c ... ead=100355 has been tin canned since no one bought it. Something like that would be way too thirsty since I'm only driving to work. Sadly every man and his dog want s fuel efficient car right now. I am well out of the way and going any sort of distance to get a cheap car isn't financially viable, especially as I'm unlikely to be able to get a lift up. Where about in the country are you Bol and Warran?

Negative Creep
is the mr2 really cosing you so much to run ? Basically I desperately need cash as my incompetent agency leaving me on the wrong tax code for 6 weeks has had a very bad effect. I need to sell it then throw a few hundred into my bank whilst spending the remainder on a cheap runaround. It is surprisingly thirsty driving to work as well (about 20mpg)

KruJoe
I just saw the link on the last page: Scrapped it today and got £298.Another one dead.http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.c ... z1My3eNto5 He dropped it to £300, still no takers FFS, and he said he'd put a new ticket on it for £30. Bloody shame.
retrogeezer
Shame you are so far from me as my 106 would be BANG TIDY for your needs. If you'd asked a couple of weeks ago I could have got you a free ride up here, but I think all our Wessex work is done for the next couple of months. Is that the gold one you bought a few weeks back?? Didn't even know it was for sale!

theorganist
He dropped it to £300, still no takers FFS, and he said he'd put a new ticket on it for £30. Bloody shame. I must confess that I was interested in it then spent too much time being indecisive (my usual problem when buying a car!). By the time I had made up my mind he had weighed it in. Cant really blame him though. I have been looking for the last couple of months (and being indecisive) and certain models regularly seem to be cheap: I have seen several cheap late Renault Fives also Volvo 440's regularly go for under £400 for example. Also Mondeo's, Escorts, mark 4 Fiestas. Pete.

Cavcraft
Did you have a 'buy-it-now' price? Have personally found this usually means sod all interest unless exceptionally cheap. I reckon it's the buying mentality on that internet auction site where people like to think they might land a bargain and thus get excited about the bidding. They seem to see classified/b-i-n prices as a waste of time because there is Autotrader and local papers for fixed prices. I don't say I agree with that mentality by the way, just an observation. Anyway Ii's mad really because there's a fair chance someone would actually bid over your b-i-n price. Fwiw I find a low (or better still random) starting price and suggesting you have a low reserve usually gets things going nicely. Best of all is a low start and no reserve but there's always the chance of it ending at some crap price. Oh, the FCF might be worth a try too, you're preaching to the converted on there and someone may well want a small cheap car for their kids or to knock about in.
