Took Fatha_Outlaw to Carfest in Chelmsford today, and I'll be honest straight from the off, it was a bit shit. Branded a Fathers day event, it clearly wasn't aimed at a 53 year old and a 81 year old, more for dads with younger kids. lots of funfiar type stuff, endless food stalls flogging ratburgers and chips for £10, and you know those stalls with "Quality* Tools"? a few of those, and a couple of stands flogging over-priced die-casts, and metal "ManCave" signs for £20 a go. Essex Air Ambulance, St Johns, etc all there as usual, as well as Pandora(WTAF?) and Costco???

On the plus side, there were plenty of toilets, and the blue badge parking was well marshalled, and really close to the entrance.  Sarah off of Bangers and Cash, now Evoke Classics was there, and I missed the opportunity to kidnap her get a photo. As a consequence, I only took a few photos.

Lovely Sirocco Storm for starters

Team Fat & Blind went to Brands Hatch on Sunday for a BRSCC clubman day - Formula Ford (yawn) and prototypes (kitcars by any other name) Something Else (mainly run of the mill stuff with cages in, nothing massively interesting)

BUT: The other event was called the City car Cup (or something) which is Cit C1/Pug107?Aygos with cages, regulation wheels and tyres, dampers etc, and an ecu change, so theoretically it's cheap to build and the claim was made by the (very tedious ) commentator that a season, with car purchase and prep will cost you just shy of £7k. Obviously if you survive the season without serious damage, the next season will be cheaper.

Rules and regs here: https://citycarcup.co.uk/

It was pretty entertaining, not especially fast obviously but they looked like a laugh to chivvy around - and there were a few decent* (depending on your P.O.V.) crashes, one right in front of us at the bottom of paddock hill, matey gets a bit twitchy, which leads to tankslapper, which leads to gravel. Everyone slows down apart from Mr Magoo about 12 cars back, up until the very last minute, anchors up, ploughs in, rnds upside down. All Ok but the impact was big enough , and close enough for Mr Blind to see/hear it.

£15 a ticket, park wherever you want, we attempted to walk round the perimeter but due to a war wound( I did the splits in the garage about 10 days ago) I took the Moose round instead.

Not much to take photos of car-park wise, there was a nice Cobra rep with a 6 litre donk in it, and a replica Lotus 21(?) which was tiny. Had some history too, there was a laminated sheet on the driver's seat. Beardy Fuckwit pictured for scale.

The final event of the day was a 2 hour endurance race for the "assorted" class - once everyone started spreading out / stopped falling off at Paddock / Hairpin/Graham Hill, we bailed out.
