AXrescuer
What can you say about this beauty? At first I thought it was a parts van for a John Deere dealer.... The owner even has a John Deere model number on the tailgate - 6920. But as you can see, a 6920 bears little resemblance to a Corolla: Looks like someone got a little too excited and sullied the bodywork!

r.welfare
One assumes that Corolla would have actually been sold as a "van", Ross? I saw lots of Xsara coupes with panelled-in side windows when I visited Eire a few years back.
Guest
FIND HIM! Theres a lot of people out there want some of those plates.I spotted two builders vans today sporting modern euro plates with the Serck font, so someone local is definitely knocking them out. Shouldn't be too hard to find as there are only a handful of places around here making metal plates. Stay tuned... Hot damn! If such a place exists, I'll get some made up for both the 323 and Galant (the Charmant came pre-Sercked from the dealer).
Ross_K
One assumes that Corolla would have actually been sold as a "van", Ross? I saw lots of Xsara coupes with panelled-in side windows when I visited Eire a few years back.Yeah, it would have come from the dealership as a van alright. Like the Xsara van, it would probably have been converted by the importer. I always preferred the UK-style Xsara van myself. At least it was more practical and didn't look like a van... The rules about van coversions are fairly lax. You can take any hatchback or estate, rip out the rear seats and seatbelts, weld up the mounting holes and take it down to the local Revenue office to have it re-classified as a van. Road tax is dirt cheap then, but the downside is that commercial vehicles need to be tested every year instead of every two years for cars. Ross_K
Just one recent spot outside the local Tesco. The owner of this Lincoln Town Car was obviously in need of a special needs parking bay - his reading and parking skillz left a lot to be desired... Ross_K
Relatively shite-free times these days... I did spot this Renner 11 GTL outside the local dealers yesterday though, sitting with a bunch of other down-at-heel motors. Probably destined to be turned into dodgy Chinese spanners in the near future. It was advertised online last month for €1000 - taxed til the end of this month and one month's test... The owner obviously put down his crack pipe and traded it in for a shiny new Megane or something.

Ross_K
'91 BX TZD in an Aldi carpark no less. Originally from Devon judging by the dealer sticker on the back. Only the second time I've seen this shade of blue (EDF blue) on a BX - the other was my 4x4... '96 Renner 5 Campus. Were they still making them them in 1996, or had this one been sitting in a yard somewhere for a while before being registered? I'll throw in the '97 Ibiza next to it with the pov-spec wheels as a piece of bonus shite.
mk2_craig
A quick Ebay search turns this up: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-RENAULT-5-CA ... 0282991926 I knew they were still selling them on N-reg, but I've never seen one this late: http://southampton.gumtree.com/southamp ... 18043.html Not sure when production actually ceased; I know the R4 carried on going long after RHD imports stopped. Ross_K
I had a quick look on wikipedia - looks like they made them until 96 alright...The model was starting to show its age by 1990 , when it was effectively replaced by the more modern and better-built Clio, which was an instant sales success across Europe. Production of the R5 was transferred to the Revoz factory in Slovenia when the Clio was launched, and it remained on sale as a budget choice called the Campus until the car's 24-year production run finally came to an end in 1996. Milford Cubicle
I wonder if the Clio Campus with its awkward rear numberplate relocation will last 6 years.
Ross_K
Some more from my phone... Most of you probably know that Henry Ford's father Bill was from Ireland - he emigrated to America in the 1840s. Henry was born in the 1860s and the rest is history. This stainless steel sculpture is in Bill Ford's home village in West Cork... I'm surprised pikeys haven't made off with it.
