Fairly quiet year for me

Sold this

20210918_125638.thumb.jpg.0985e0a5c4927e173754a911ef96e37f.jpg

Roffled this volvo of my sadly departed FIL's

20220315_170034.thumb.jpg.b731b79a579b7d681ab631d137b4a5cc.jpg

Sold this old civic

20210905_083832.thumb.jpg.a85ebcf5ac5743d0e97eeecbd2e8e314.jpg

Sold this kwak

20200910_110328.thumb.jpg.f9f61da44da8052eaef3177ecf3cca67.jpg

Also bought and sold a Volvo V70 which was knackered, deleted the pics from my phone so I would no longer feel the financial pain

Bought this Merc

20220924_113926.thumb.jpg.fcc1f3ba27dc5ffecd97b368909123da.jpg

bought this RT, then sold it a few weeks later as I didn't like it

Screenshot_20220814-164605_eBay.thumb.jpg.e6f0a2517ffbf6ff05db6205183a499f.jpg

bought one of these for my daughter, it was too big for her

2022440715_x-motion125.jpg.e94a2300e2a3065cd504adfec0e1c998.jpg

So sold it and bought this (which now has the correct mudguard)

20220612_073615.thumb.jpg.0097bc6705cd4fd054dc435b0582c753.jpg

then i bought this for daughter no2 as the repayments on her new clio were too much for her and wbac offered her a way out due to silly prices currently

20220810_190419.thumb.jpg.e04db6bc7a98f431c98daceb0db12add.jpg

so maybe not as quiet as i thought it was, I'll maybe replace the Merc and the wife's car next year when prices hopefully become a bit more sensible.

The declaration as we entered the 2022 was to sell 10 cars and buy one special car.

A bit of a turn round for somebody who every year has been making their collection larger.

Cars purchased in 2022

·         1986 Mercedes 230TE W123

·         1974 Citroen Ami 8 Break

·         1971 Triumph Toledo 4 door

·         1963 Peugeot 404

The Mercedes 230TE was not a good start to my fleet trimming as it was only January! No excuse I just liked it and felt there would not be an opportunity to buy a running W123 Mercedes again for a reasonable price so grabbed it.

I had for 3 years been thinking about changing my 2CV for a Dyane or Ami and had just about given up on that idea when a forum member turned up with an Ami 8 Break that I could not resist so by March we were two up. The motivation for the change was to have an A series Citroen that was a bit more individual, wider cabin and tax free. I am pleased with the result.

The Toledo was an opportunity to buy an up and running Triumph Toledo and release a longer term project. This has worked out well and I have attended several Triumph meeting with it.

There is no excuse for the Peugeot 404, I put on my rose tinted spectacles, went lar lar lar to the voice in my head that said no more projects! I am still happy with what I bought and do not regret buying it.

The special car is still not bought.

Cars sold 2022

·         Alfa 156 V6 Saloon

·         Mercedes CLK 320 Convertible

·         Mazda MX5

·         Citroen 2CV

·         BMW 325i SE E30

·         Peugeot 306 Cab

·         BMW M3 Evo convertible E36

·         Renault Clio 2 RN 1.6 Auto

·         Triumph Toledo 2 door

·         Citroen Visa 17RD E reg

·         BMW 328i Coupe Msport E36

·         BMW 735i SE E32

·         Triumph Spitfire MK3 with 6cyl

Where were we? Oh, that's right.

Still here: 405 estate; 406 estate; 205GR; 206GTI.

Except, that wasn't it.  The 406 estate went to a shitist, and was replaced by this SAAB

IMG-20201205-WA0044.thumb.jpg.5fca0c883f9329d8684d3342a9b853c0.jpg

Which was pretty nice but I made a "I might be selling this" noise on facebook and it was snapped up by the owner of a chain of vape shops.  It's now dead, Jim.

I tried to replace it with this partner, but it was totally dead

IMG_20210403_110042.thumb.jpg.f734af6e76054b26b37be8156590c042.jpg

The engine was FUBAR.

I also bought this:

IMG_20210405_170046.thumb.jpg.4af2681b5031dd21025069b63d28982f.jpg

I then bought this back

IMG_20210501_112206.thumb.jpg.2c9d486503d79f6f506b9553a948fbd9.jpg

Which was amazing, but just too far gone for me to fix so it went back up to @DodgyBastard again.  I'd love it back for another go at getting it roadworthy now he's welded it up, but I've spent all my spending money on other bits for the last few months so couldn't get it here.

IMG_20210627_210640.thumb.jpg.3a4ce8f94c30e3c3af5d4fe05e1306c3.jpg

I then bought this

 IMG_20210520_123416.thumb.jpg.5b85cf046db42f07069f9dbd433d75b9.jpg

Which was useful

IMG_20210518_184238.thumb.jpg.b8d986e2d864fcd9d920020a76d86d8f.jpg

So useful in fact that I only had it three days as it was needed by someone with a dead focus.

Then I bought this

IMG_20210529_222012.thumb.jpg.0727c88d6b0b636f70b18ecaced0bc99.jpg

Which is more useful, but only when the electronics are not shitting themselves.  After a full 6 months off the road, it's back on the fleet but still a bit broken.  If I can get it sorted it'll be amazing.

I then had an excellent fleet

IMG_20210506_074011.thumb.jpg.18cf9eecb85d8a4b469a599eef7130b5.jpg

I was told I had to sell cars, so I sold the 206 GTI

IMG-20201130-WA0020.thumb.jpg.462d27a12d48a7ae6a80f4abaf03c10a.jpg

which was probably my favourite car ever, but not as practical as we really need at the moment.

With the partner dead and 206 sold, we mostly relied on my 205

IMG_20210702_152145.thumb.jpg.ae7ae6fdf9e45db0237bfbfc9e1e4537.jpg

Which was unfair and has been pretty hard on it.  It's currently off the road, needs a starter and probably a few other bits.

To help take the strain, I bought this

1692928724_PXL_20210908_172923244(1).thumb.jpg.06406e0488e313a1ae569b7d6e688a31.jpg

which was great once I put very grippy tyres on it, but I was getting 24MPG from it.

We then tried to improve this with a six seater

PXL_20211003_094229913.thumb.jpg.36e7fa194373d1b3966ddb1656bcf51d.jpg

But the driving position was hopelessly uncomfortable and I couldn't put any kids in the front.  WHAT IS POINT?

After a bit of A framing,

PXL_20211031_105858734.thumb.jpg.afde92787c28f1077699abb99b3d962f.jpg

I finally got the tractor home

PXL_20211031_143125961.thumb.jpg.0d7d11769bcdc923c3f166bfb05db062.jpg

and then moved the two hondas on.

The whole time, my 405 has been sitting in Scary's yard.

IN: 106, 305, TED20, partner, partner, CR-V, HR-V

OUT: SAAB, 106, 305, partner, CR-V, HR-V,

Still here: 405 estate; TED20; 205GR; Partner

So I started the year with the ever present 405 estate, a tractor, a petrol 205 and a broken Peugeot Partner.

I got the tractor running on New Year's Day, and quickly established I have absolutely fuck all need for a tractor.

PXL_20221209_132023704.thumb.jpg.ced3af4b0d441fa0174f6d3132ce578f.jpg

So off it went last week

The Partner was doing a good impression of a mid 00s Peugeot with broken electronics, so for the springtime run to the Mediterranean I bought a Renault Trafic.  It was fucking ace.

PXL_20220408_221531660.thumb.jpg.78a0d9ee9a7df91019059f740f80d297.jpg

Except for the fact it killed an injector 1000 miles from home leaving us stranded.  We hired cars and flew home.

Whilst in the hired cars, I went 1/3rds on this MI16.

PXL_20220423_160237043.thumb.jpg.343cc7738bac604a3f815f617907b43a.jpg

and @jmsguzzi bought my 205.

I then borrowed a Horizon for a bitPXL_20220622_202729030.thumb.jpg.a715b834a03b172ecf1e8552883c14a3.jpg

And had a quiet month before being bought out of the MI16 and buying thisPXL_20220830_191940268.thumb.jpg.f5102a91daecfff9ffc627d897f1b7d6.jpg

Which I splunked money on, so roffled this:

PXL_20220709_173610079_MP.thumb.jpg.fcd2de52d02c1e40fe4665689ecc5bff.jpg

Which I must have bought back because I didn't have it at the start of the year.

The Xantia kindly repaid me by killing the heater matrix. It's now donating it's organs to @Ged's 305.

I've just bought this

PXL_20221216_155543491.thumb.jpg.fb3bbf7e34ccbadd86b34b5e4edc27b8.jpg

I've no idea why.

The whole time, my 405 has been sitting in ScaryOldCortina's yard.

Until a few weeks ago I thought I was doing well with one out:

image.thumb.jpeg.618a05bfa7435482e64eb022fdc6f28b.jpeg
The Mondeo went in August after 11 years on the fleet. I was one down until a few weeks ago when I had a call asking if I wanted to buy a car I had wanted for many years! On Wednesday it was delivered:

image.thumb.jpeg.f7db7348bef1946d2bc467bb15e5eb21.jpeg
Also a couple of weeks ago there was another change to the fleet,  wasn’t sure if company cars should be included as I don’t own them but they cost far more in tax than buying a car!
Pikey truck out, milk float in:

image.thumb.jpeg.0615f19c95f2d0f86ebf7b8a84fd5dff.jpeg
So numbers remain the same as this time last year but major improvement in two vehicles.

This'll be tricky, but from memory:

In:

1975 YB100, 1974/5 Honda SS50, 1980/1 Kawasaki KC100, remains of a 1928 BSA A28, 2 x BSA Bantams, 1980 Suzuki GS550E,  1964 Vespa VBB150, 1989 Yamaha FS1M, Suzuki SV650,  Honda Firestorm, 2xSuzuki GSX550s, 1964/5 Honda S90, 2008 Vespa LX125, several Chinese bikes/scooters and probably some I've forgotten about

1967(?) Beetle based beach buggy, 1998 Vectra SuperTouring 2.0, 2008 BMW 118D, 2008 Movano 2.5, 1999(?) Merc ML320.

Out:

Some of the above and (sadly) a 1981 Suzuki X7. It wasn't getting used and I fancied a change.

More a bought and collected for really, as I spotted a pink scooter in the local scrapyard that was more or less the same as the Direct Bikes 125 at the Field of dreams.  Asked about getting parts off it and was offered the whole bike for £20 so bought it and stuck it on a slightly too small trailer along with my crap electric scooter.

Sort of out.

Crap electric scooter is technically still mine but living down at the FoD for the time being as I can see it being useful there if it can be made to work (quiet and slower than the others).

Still here.

Oky dokey chief the blue MK2 Focus, daily driver, company van etc.

Mighty Dacia.  Still MOTed, taxed and mostly working.

 Miss C's 2015 Corsa SRi.

Still broken.

Freight Rover 200, Land Rover Discovery 200tdi, Rover 200 and Peugeot 405.

So much for getting rid. Ended up buying more, standard I suppose?

IN.

Toyota Altezza. Will likely stay for a while. That beams engine is rather addictive! Yet, it'll do car just fine.

Aldi TT. Didn't plan this yin! CBA'd with it. Fur sell in new year.

_20221027_195644.thumb.JPG.4dc4057f9c6bb05049acbbda1138afbb.JPG

Stayin' put!

The Opel (It's not a bloody BELMONT 😆) Astra. Had this for nearly ten years. 2023 I'll definitely knock some dust off it. Still hunting for NOS panels to fix it's rust issues.

DSC_0922.thumb.JPG.54944450557f64a8022dd406daba1268.JPG

Corsa B. Welding stopped for now. Will crack back on soon.

DSC_0140_2.thumb.JPG.c653d158b125664888c14210dae3e14a.JPG

Nexia. Too handy to sell just yet. Little fettle of the mettal before test still to do.

DSC_0281.thumb.JPG.be069c8bb7b40277025e1bff6be28ef6.JPG

OOOooooT!! Awa tae f*ck.

306 Rallye. Loved this car. But wasn't using it a lot. So sold and now in Wales.

DSC_0162.thumb.JPG.458d2807323671ef7a5bc54e9f83b72b.JPG

Corsa B. Kinda doesn't count. As it was only ever a donor car to me.

DSC_0163.thumb.JPG.c2c839aaae043df101f310ea601a12cd.JPG

Vectra B. This still stings. I tried my best to fix it's rust issues. Alas, it was REALLY rusty. Broken for bits. Engine going in a Corsa VXR, trim went in a Supertouring ST200 and odds and ends kept for my other GM junk. So didn't die in vein.

More on the Cortina estate please!

It is a 1982 model 2.0 GLS in Champagne gold with black vinyl roof and peat Chelsea cloth interior. Champagne gold is my favourite colour on these and the first mk5 I had just after turning 17 was a Champagne gold 1.6 GL. I was disappointed on collecting it from the auction to see it had grey interior not brown (Peat) but it was a great car.  Of all the Cortina’s  I have owned since none are Champagne gold until now. This has the full S pack with recaro’s and has factory fitted headlamp washers, maybe a useless addition but again a much wanted first for me as all the press cars had these and I think they look great. It needs a bit of work but is as close to my ideal car as I will ever find. I am very pleased with my early Christmas present to myself. I hope to give it a clean this weekend if I can get time between laying an engineered oak floor.

Ready to call this now despite a few temptation leading me to think a late addition could be on the cards. After a lot few ins and outs last year, and despite a few near misses this year it's been a quiet one

In

Nothing

Out

Nothing

Non Movers

1997 Citroen XM 2.1TD

Been my daily this year. Don't want to tempt fate but no major issues so far.  Some air getting in to the fuel system as it takes a few goes to start, think its from the O-ring on the HP pump feed. Really lovely car, I like it a lot

20220709_193124.thumb.jpg.17109382827f515887d0fccbfbe09e15.jpg

1998 Fiat Panda

Few nice outings in the roffle win/ @spartacus Panda  during the year but not moved as much as I would have liked . Survived MOT day drama when the gear linkage disintegrated en route. some rust proofing required over the winter ready for hopefully some more use next year.

20220607_163126.thumb.jpg.da92b61e1535fac0a18025ca4e0345b3.jpg

1994 Skoda Favorit

Sat for over a year now. Rebuilt suspension, engine mounts and rear brakes just before cold snap.  Once coolant system is bled (front engine mount is integrated with water pump) its ready for an MOT

Screenshot_20221217_101826_Gallery.thumb.jpg.518a4cecf6d2040b0179413cb7c37c72.jpg

2005 BMW e46 M3

Started to use it again after 2 years of not really doing so.  Still a lovely looking/sounding car but it probably needs to go to someone with a garage and less cars as the rust bubbles are starting to set in

20220531_171415.thumb.jpg.e18683e1e9002ed5a8d52d5316210899.jpg

1999 Westfield SEiW

Nothing done this year.  waiting for me to finish off the jobs I started during major recommissioning in lockdown (Note, dodgy number plate is not mine and is now with previous owner!)

Screenshot_20221217_102001_Chrome.thumb.jpg.29e8231d1a6c1e666bb791fe96584b6c.jpg

1985 Sinclair C5

The bulk of the full strip and rebuild was done in 2020 but this year the finishing touches were completed. Needs a more permanent battery loom making I would say but other than that its done.  god knows what I will do with it then but I like owning it but don't fancy going far on it

20220709_151105.thumb.jpg.c429b8fc4aa99b6f93a32a7272b41536.jpg

Note: The photos of the Favorit and the Westfield do not necessarily represent the current status 😂

Sadly, thanks to the dictator Sadiq Khan, this is the last year of the fleet looking like this. Some or all possibly all will have to go next year, which upsets me greatly as I have put a huge amount of hours and money into the cars and really enjoy owning and driving them

OUT:

2000 BMW 528i SE, can’t remember which shiter I bought this off back in March 2021, was someone’s Dad’s deceased friends car I believe?

I spent a fortune on it and kept it for longer than I have any other car. Great car but fancied a change.

IN/OUT:

2007 Mercedes CLK 280, the 528’s replacement, nice engine, shit build quality, bit modern for me.

IN:

1991 Mercedes 230TE, bought from @HMC, a car I’ve always wanted. Was planning on buying a ‘nice’ one but couldn’t pass this one up for the price, slowly improving it.

IN:

1997 BMW 523i SE, originally bought this from @prepace back in 2020 and then stupidly sold it when I shouldn’t’ve. Managed to buy it back this year, have spent a small fortune on it already and will probably stupidly sell it again at some point, but it’s sticking around for now!

IN/OUT:

2003 Smart City Passion, roffle win from @gm, absolutely horrible.

and dont think I haven't noticed that you have completely omitted the Velosolex either! :)

Does not count against me as it is a bicycle and does not have reg number.
