rantingYoof
As long as I have just a single driveway space and limited on-street capacity, my fleet remains static. It's my dream car, and I've spent a bit of money on it. The wheels have been refurbished and 'baked' anthracite grey... And I deleted the rear mufflers to give it a slightly more ominous rumble... https://youtu.be/H4y-yVase7M It looks like this right now courtesy of mucky roads... davehedgehog31
So at the turn of the year I had a fleet of; Red 405 - Love this car, won't be going anywhere for a long time. Saab - Still have this but shortly to move on to a new shiter. Has been a good car, but I've lost my mojo a bit so good for someone else to get enjoyment from it. Astra - Now with @blackboilersuit who has really given it a good home C1 - Sold to @Kiltox , would definitely have another. White 405 - This has been passed around the forum quite extensively since. Bought it from a chap on Gumtree with a weeks MOT and in dire need of TLC. Got it tested and it's moved on a couple of times. Arrivals; MGF - This was a basket case. Cubed. C5 - This was a nice car actually but always a bit persnickety with me. Wish I'd given it a bit more of a chance; Blue 205 - Still on fleet. Possibly my favourite car I've ever owned, it's fucking tremendous. 1.8D and handles like a dream. Very solid for a 205. Red 205 - Not quite as sterling an example of the breed. Now with @Saabnut Polo - Now with @jaypee, It wasn't french. 607 - Still fucked. Hoping to regain mojo toot suite. bramz7
You don't need to quote an entire post that's right above! My year has been eventful but not as much as previous years, I guess. Funnily enough, I ended up gifting this to my other halfs dad for Christmas 2018. He was shocked. He still has it but it hasn't really moved since. Oh well. Sold this at some point to Red5, and he sold it later. It's still going. Sold to Wuvs and then roffled and now somewhere really, really north in the UK. I don't miss it, it really wasn't me. I would do another yank, but not one of these. Got this from Wuvs, it was okay bar the annoying shake on idle due to a presumed pump issue. It eventually took part in a classic car survey for best car under a budget, and possibly won? Then it died. Now scrapped. Got this from the forum, it was great. My first proper fast diesel, and I loved it. Sold to Beep, whose sister (or sister in law) uses it? Still going. Got this from some chap off of FB in a rough but hipster part of London. Sold to various other members of the forum after I struggled to get sane insurance for it. This was great. I got it from Beep and loved it. I did however get tired of it falling apart, although aside from one day not randomly starting (suspect the key temporarily stopped disarming the immoboliser) it never gave me grief. Now with the editor of Retro Cars. Oh god, I loved this. Boredom set in slightly, sold it on, Happily despite appearing with a breaker on FB, its still on the road. I also loved this. It felt fast as hell, and had about £10k of invoicing. Former Swedish diplomatic car, although I think that was for a mission rather than anything interesting. Annoyingly the guy I sold it to has seemingly scrapped it. Didn't like this, Coupes are shit sorry. Doors that are too long for normal spaces, and no boot space. Pass. This was nice. Some minor niggles which turned into annoyances, namely the wheel vibration due to those damn alloys and the grot developing on the rear arch. Would have it back, probably. With Retro Cars editor too. Yeah this was cool, still with six cylinder who is offering it for sale. I liked it. Yes! This was a great eBay bargain, £180!!!!! I wish I had kept this ace thing. Now with £95 peugeot who rightly so loves it... I also really liked this, bought it off the most annoyingly chatty Mancunian ever, who literally wouldn't let me leave his street without telling me everything about everything. Ate up the miles with no complaints. Sold on as the seats were crap. They're also a bit funny on bends. This was another weird eBay find. Missed it the first time, then almost felt compelled to get it the second time. Yeah wasn't bad. Baggy. Spoke to me. This was my first petrol Xantia. Yeah, great thing to drive, now with Barrett. Now with RobT, this was again a great mile muncher but I fancied something different. Still have this. It cost me more or less nothing and it drives very tightly. I need to use it more but don't want to hurt it on the salty roads. Surely life is too short? It's a former Irish 1.4 T Spark, we never got this engine in the UK. It's jolly good fun. I seem to be missing photos of the following Two W210s, one of which killed itself and the other which tried it's very best. A BMW 323CI which I sold to some mountain of a man who then did a HIT AND RUN ON THE SAME DAY which found it's way back to me, sorted out now though! A Citroen C5 which reminded me how much I detest them. The AX14 TRS now belonging to six cylinder The Wuvs 530d now with Flat4 A 525d which was largely okay. A 518 E34 which I still have. A Xantia HDI Forte now with Wingz in Spain! 309 Auto, now with a chap off of the forum, who I think still has it? So overall, yeah 2019. Oh and something I pick up tomorrow....shit! Targets for 2020? None really, bar another Volvo, another BMW (preferably some six cylinder example) and possibly a proper cheap off roader. Actually my number one target is an early Omega in 2.5 TD flavour. YES. bramz7
It's probably one of the worst cosmetically but mechanically it's spot on. Indeed, my fleet tends to become quite promiscuous with the rest of the forum.

overrun
Don’t think my fleet has changed at all, this year. Had this Mondeo for a couple of years, now. It sees light load lugging duties, but is otherwise the trouble-free daily and has an easy life for an estate. Owned the MR2 turbo for I think five years and never intend to sell it. Put it back on the road over summer, following a couple of years in storage. Rebuilt the rear calipers, replaced the fronts and swapped the crusty OE Bilstein suspension for a set of BK Racing coilovers I had waiting for it. Had it paint corrected and ceramic coated, wound the boost up a bit more and just generally enjoyed it. Currently in hibernation. Still got my shite 4x4. Three years into ownership and it never misses a beat. It failed the MOT on lower ball joints. I had to replace the arms, as they are welded in place. A bit annoying. Replaced front drop links. Mick’s Garage sent the wrong rear drop links, so I just removed the ARB and chucked it at the bottom of the garden. As I have been renovating my house since the beginning of the year, this thing has been priceless, and will continue to be so. Saabnut
I have been avoiding this as I am in denial, I have convinced myself I am reducing the fleet, but somehow I seem to have less parking space... Started the year with fifty odd cars (I honestly have lost count) and most have not changed. Here I will detail only the changes this year, BUT there is still one Kollectshun scheduled for next week that will add to the numbers and a possible delivery before the end of the year that will reduce the number by one, so things will probably change! Started the year quietly, with a resolution to reduce the fleet. Things started off well, as the Discovery of Doom hit the road so the Mitsubishi L200 left the fleet: Things went downhill from here, first in was the AX In quick succession, the Honda Jazz and a Yaris. The Yaris went straight out on loan and is still going... Then came another Saab, a tidy low mileage TDi Auto 9-3 estate, needing a few small bits for MOT (on the left here) At this point a Passat came and went (for scrap) Then a bit of a tidy up so scrapped were the Jazz and a rusty old 9000 that was basically just a shell In and out next was another Discovery TD5, bought to fettle, sold when a TDi came on the horizon By this time the refettled (-3 estate was on the road and doing fine, so I sold it and replaced it with a 9-5 from here and another 9-5 arrived to be stripped for spares. This is now waiting the next scrap run As a TDi Disco was heading my way, this very rusty Disco was added to the spares heap and shortly afterwards this arrived Most recently this arrived as it was too good to scrap: The totals at the time of writing are 11 in and 6 out, but that is likely to change by year end Tickman, BorniteIdentity, Fat_Pirate and 7 others

Spottedlaurel
A quiet year for me on the older cars - Laurel, Sunny, 1200 and Camry all still here. Laurel and Camry both without MoT at present as time/money has been in short supply. Should be no issue with the Laurel, it'll get sorted ready for next spring. Camry is because I don't know what to do with it, but I think I will take it for a test early next year and that'll force a decision. Need for the Camry is reduced due to me enjoying the Lexus RX (which is basically a modern Camry on stilts). It's a fine thing to drive and ideal for current winter conditions. I actually bought two RXs this year, but the first one got exchanged for the low mileage, one former owner example I now have due to 'issues'. Wasn't disappointed to see the back of the 2015 1.8 Avensis estate - I was quite happy with the previous diesel I had, but the petrol was a gutless thing with no character. Did consider selling the Sunny, still would if I knew it was going to a good home but can't face putting it on the open market. Would like to get another LS400 - the RX is great, but it's not the same as a RWD V8. The Bo11ox Mazda 929 I was storing here got collected by a guy down south who was going to use it for spares on an RX4 restoration. BorniteIdentity
All told, it's actually been quite a quiet year. Perhaps my quietest whilst on the forum! It's also been the most exciting. In February - Nan's Mini joined the fold. Even now, I can't quite believe that the Mini I used to LOVE riding around in as a 7 year old - is sat in my own garage. I doubt it will ever really sink in. This took us up to 6 cars on the fleet, which isn't something I'm overly comfortable with (mainly because of tax!). That said, both the Sierra and the Mini will be exempt soon enough. Eventually, with redundancy at work and uncertainty around future opportunities - I took the difficult decision to sell my beloved Mercedes 190. I doubt, somehow, I'll ever own another one as smart and as beguiling as this one. My lad cried his eyes out when it went - literally sobbing. I wasn't that pleased about it either, but such is life. Despite already having owned 2, I'd probably have a 3rd if it was a good one. I also had a brief fling with the Renault Vel Satis AS bike. Brief because they have a habit of breaking. Unfortunatley for Fat Pirate, it broke on him and not me. This was in and out within a month. Plans for the new year? I'd like to try a Toyota Camry with the full v6 experience. I will also likely end up in a modern because work, so will need to push the rules to the maximum to ensure I get something both presentable and interesting/sufficiently different. Split_Pin
I'm glad my wife and son aren't interested in cars because if they got upset if I wanted to sell one it would break my heart to do it. NigeT
Same fleet as the end of last year. New years resolution for 2020 is to find a new home for the XJ-S V12. Ideal replacement a Reliant or cheap sheddy semi-broken Alfa. Mondial sailed through MOT & was rewarded with new timing belts, plugs, bonnet struts and other goodies. XJ-S needed power steering hose & subframe bush replacement (proper bastard jobs) and gauges now up the creek, the car is no longer bringing me joy. Trusty CLK's been given a full service (incl discs, pads & caliper repair), some DIY bodywork & a new thermostat & running like new. brownnova
One in one out this year... (although there’s still time...) Out: 206: kicked off the fleet for being a) too boring and b) broken as the clutch was slipping and the exhaust had fallen off! Slightly missed as it was very economical and apart from the end very reliable! Given to a relative who fixed its MoT fails and it’s still in active service. We saw it last week! In: The Yugo: this WILL be on the road in 2020. So far has been running (for a matter of seconds) and then won’t run again. Done nothing to it for the past month! Remainers: Camper: Getting less and less use, and with the baby on the way will it stay at Chez brownnova? MX5: My longest ever ownership... now at 4 1/2 years! Deux Chevaux: The most fun you can have on four wheels... this one’s a keeper. Do we get another? 9000 #1: 198,000 not out. May be retired to light duties in 2020 to try and preserve it. But likely not... 9000 #2: Tatty but useful still has the massive dent on the drivers door, stil tows the trailer. Will be sold in early 2020 due to lack of use. 2020 might see a bit of a fleet reshuffle due to the addition to the family... let’s see what the 2020 tat account shows. BL Bloke
At the beginning of the year my only car was a 2013 Skoda Fabia 1.2 which I've owned since 2016. DSCF1042 by timothy jones, on Flickr Since discovering HubNut videos the previous July I had been looking for something older so the beginning of February saw me winning a 31K Rover 45 on eBay for just under £370 DSCF0090 by timothy jones, on Flickr Now that I had an old* car I joined the forum only to find that compared to most of the cars on here it was still fairly new so the search continued. Towards the end of June a 1.1 205 GL appeared on the 'eBay tat' thread which had a few hours left and a top bid of £400. Thinking that it would probably go for over £500 as it had 9 months Mot and had only covered 44K I placed a max bid of £450 and went out. Upon my return I was surprised to find that I had the winning bid at £410. A train journey from Brum to Colchester was arranged and my first proper collection was completed by a 220 mile drive in a 33 year old car that I'd never seen before wearing a pair of 30+ year old tyres on the back. DSCF0436 by timothy jones, on Flickr This was the first French car I've owned but it wouldn't be the last. A few weeks later another new arrival appeared, this time via the 'Under £200' thread in the shape of a 1998 Fiesta 1.25 LX which had spent the last couple of years delivering takeaways in the Harborne area of Brum. The owner was moving house the following weekend and couldn't take it with him so I got it for £140. The Mot was only a few weeks but I thought that if it failed badly I'd get most of my money back from the scrap man. Luckily it didn't need much for the Mot and lives on for at least another year. DSCF0715 by timothy jones, on Flickr This was another first for me as in 40 years of driving I'd never owned a Ford, or a car with a sunroof. A few weeks later the 'eBay tat' thread struck again when @wuvvum posted a Citroen Saxo that had been listed in the parts section with a starting bid of £200. The first three times it was listed I managed to resist but as soon as the phrases 'too good to scrap' and 'complete car for breaking' appeared I had to save it. A trip to London and £200 later and I was on my way home in my second smoll Frenchy of the year which has covered over 1000 miles since joining the fleet. DSCF0959 by timothy jones, on Flickr So I've gone from owning one six year old car to owning five cars with an average age of 19.4. What a year. loserone, Scruffy Bodger, Split_Pin and 9 others
anonymous user
Started the year with a Land Rover 90 CSW and a C15 van. The Land Rover drove me up the wall by breaking expensively all the time so was sold at a loss. The C15 was great, but I broke it by driving it across France and back, given away on here, it's survives. Bought a Berlingo to replace the C15, it's now with my mate, I can borrow it back if I need it. Bought the Chrysler 300c hemi (as featured in the low cost big liability thread, thanks Cort16) enjoyed it but it wasn't really me and I sold it a few weeks ago. Bought a Kia Picanto when I went back to work in July, still have it, it's boring transport. Have bought an early MX5 as I need pop up lights in my life again, not collected it yet.
