2011 shite plans?

After a relatively dull batch of motors this years I need to up the ante a bit and drive some more proper chod. High on the wanted list are then following: XJ40, possibly X300(?) Jag and a Lambretta. Also plan on getting a motorhome of some sorts, though the prospect of getting dry bummed to the tune of £5,000 for a 24 year old tarted up Talbot doesn't fill me with inspiration. Plenty more cars I fancy too, maybe some sort of seventies/eighties Yank shit and if there's any sensibly priced Mk2 Cortinas left I quite fancy one.

Wouldn't mind another stab at sorting out tickets for Cholmondley Castle car show, last year it was superbly run by a couple of our numbers and it's not to be missed.

What are your (automotive) shite plans for 2011 then?

I'd like something RWD. Not for drifting like, just because I'm sick of grazing my knuckles on transverse engines.

Current 'faves' are the Volvo 940 TD and M-B 300D. I'm not likely to find a 940 eligible for classic car insurance, so it might have to be the 300D.

Now I've popped my cherry and bought something non-VAG I intend to have more of an open mind about cars, and swap and change more. I've also freed up an insurance policy with 6 years NCB on so can hopefully have things other than "classics".

Cars I would be interested in owning this year:

Vulva 850 T5

Frogface Scorpillow

XR3i of some sort - maybe a cabrio

A 6-pot BMW, I've been very happy with the 318 so far

I plan to keep both Volvos, spend some money on The Volvo, and take one of them on a road trip to eastern Germany, as I did in 2009 (TV2) and 2010 (The Volvo). If I can find some space to park/store it, an additional car may be added to the fleet, preferably something sub-£500 from the 1980s like a Cavalier, Escort, Audi 100 or Audi Coupe GT :)

I'm planning to sort the couple of snags on the 635, then chop it in for something a bit smaller. I'd love a zetec converted Mk1 Fez, but insurance is proving to be a bit of an issue just at the mo. Otherwise, high on the list would be 309 or 205 GTi, early CRX or possibly a Scirocco.

Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions of something that might do over 25mpg, qualify for classic insurance and be a bit interesting.

Oh, and Cav' I can't wait for Cholmondeley, always a good day!

My plans for 2011 involve sorting the 604, hopefully sorting the Escort, and possibly flogging the XJR and trying an E55 AMG for a few months.

Cholmondely would be good to visit again. Hopefully 604 powered.

If nothing interesting has happened by May, I'm gonna move to Czech and start again there.

I plan on flogging the E320 and replacing it with an A8 4.2, preferably a sport, finishing putting the new engine in the Capri, getting the 928 on the road and enlarging my carbon footprint a bit, and making a bit more of a concerted effort on my beetle and the Datsun 1200 :)

No plans to buy any shite - I'm inept with karmamechanics* ( as Peter Gabriel quoted in Genesis' 'the Battle of Epping Forest') so will keep hold of my Neesarn.

* car mechanics

I used to think I was inept with car mechanics, now I'm merely slightly below average after 7 years of tinkering with sub-£500 crocks.

Pass test

Complete a shitter or two

Attend more Autoshite meetings

Sort out Marks Cortina

Sort out Jons Amazon

Maybe even move into "DA UNIT"

Finish off the burner for "DA UNIT"

Keep trying my best with my apprenticeship

See how things progress with Miss Minimad5

And if Pete moves to Czech - Go visit him and w*nk over his Escort

Cholmondeley's gr8 but might be a bit long-distance for me now. No shite-buying plans, but we know what happens to the best-laid plans, don't we? Granada should be registered very shortly, then I can use it and start ironing-out all the niggles that always come to light (for maximum embarrassment, exactly when you're at your first show with it/picking visitors up at the airport/half-way to a job interview). After that, moving house, then get on with Annie Austin a bit, hopefully have her painted by Easter and re-assembled by summer. The Ute can just go on and on, I spent too much on it last year to do anything now except drive it to death. It's only got 150000 miles on it so this should take a while...

Getting a job would be handy too.

Oh yeah, and I absolutely must make some progress on my romance novel. Now how do I make two teenage girls (on different continents) aware of each other's place in a boy's affections...?
