See the source image

Just noticed the lorry mid picture, looks to be overloaded, if that was now Health and Safety, and the police would have you hung, drawn and quartered.

That's superb, that lorry is loaded to very slightly higher than the bus. Never mind the health and safety element, just loading and unloading it must have been a feat.

Interesting how the rally SD1s used the US-spec round headlights.

I imagine for ease of changing. Assuming they are standard they'd only be held in with three screws and you could do it without lifting the bonnet.

Look at the size of the roof light box on that Capri.  That must have adversely altered aerodynamic performance and fuel-economy a bit. Police versions were 3.0S spec but with plain black GL seats.  Those Ronal alloys were only available for about a year 75/76.  Quite rare now. My friend had 2 on a trailer and 4 on a Mk2 Escort.  Ford then moved to the 'Ghia-style' alloys after about mid 1976.  Or optional RS 4-spokes, of which there are many variants (about 15 versions)  despite them all looking the same at first glance.

Interesting pic.  There are a few pics on internet of Strathclyde traffic-police 3-litre Capris.

A friend of mine was in the police in the 80s and said the 3 litre Granadas struggled to get past 100mph with those huge light boxes. I suspect the Range Rover struggled to get double figures mpg wise.
