The picture I posted was a 1934 Morris Oxford, converted to transport/motive power for working parties on the Kent and East Sussex Railway in the early preservation days around 1970.  Morris cars of that type had a wide track, specifically to allow rail conversion in the Colonies (SE England, obvs,)  One of the preservationists was a Morris enthusiast, and donated his spares car, which wasn't worth much then, because not a proper vintage car.

The conversion was very basic and with only one reverse gear it had to be derailed and turned around after each trip, but it was apparently quite useful and showed the potential for a proper IC engined shunter, so it was quickly superseded  and I think eventually scrapped.

Loaned by Brian Blackwell, an ebullient, striped blazer-wearing travelling ticket inspector from Essex

After much heavy use, it progressively fell out of use [until a big-end went] and it was eventually retrieved by Brian Blackwell for use as spare parts
