seth
We spent a week and a half in the Chichester environs, including the weekend at Goodwood. Saw some good old stuff. These first few were in Arundel a couple of days before the Vintage festival so might have been around for that. I visted the Amberly Chalk Pits museum when I was about 10 in the mid eighties. Some things looked very familiar but there were quite a lot of new parts. Highly recommended if you're in the area. This "Tramocar" was ferrying public around the place. Bus pervs would be satisfied. There was a newish building housing a display of BT equipment. I'm sure I remember going to a BT museum, maybe in Oxford as a child and that much of this came from there. Minor's don't get much newer. There was an electricity building too. "Portable" electric bath. Anyone remember "A View to a Kill"? The mine scenes where filmed here. Perhaps most autoshite was a building dedicated to the story of road building, complete with tarmac lorries etc. And signs. Back to Chichester itself, I reckon this place must have been converted to a garage or something pre-war. Now a southern dept of Hirst Cabs. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa65/sethke/Holidays/2010/Chichester/2010summer_037.jpg Proper CPT. barrett
I have a feeling I went there as a kid, but i'm not certain. It certainly looks familiar. thanks for sharing these, very evocative. Have you thought about putting any of these through photoshop and making them look a bit more 'period'?

There is an identical one on Greys Bridge just outside of Dorchester. Used to walk past it every day on my way to school in Stinsford.

seth
Stuno, glad to have solved a family mystery for you Peter, They've got sections of road from different eras of history. I walked back into the mid eighties when I saw them again. Barrett, could do some 'shopping on them I suppose but I don't tend to do that very much. Really ought to have taken the old SLR with B+W film in it....
