Porsche 924 Scheiße - hit and run

If your insurer's can't sort it out to get you paid for the repair then really what's the point of having cover in the first place?

If you can find the person in the van though, you could go down the route of a civil claim against them through the Small Claims process - although might be challenging without a witness

The insurers - Hiscox - have been pretty good actually. They're going to put some pressure on the 3rd party's insurer to see if they'll offer a settlement and see where we get to.

Obvs I could claim on my own insurance and they'll happily pay out, minus a £150 excess. They did say they would look to recover their payment from the 3rd party's insurer themselves though.

Wait and see now.

No results so far 😒

Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but given that road is a massive loop that there's no real reason to drive down unless you're doing something at the university, and that as it's all permit parking any contractor probably needs to give their number plate when they sign in, is it worth seeing if you can get a look at the visitor sign in sheets for the day?

(I did my degree in the Queen's Building)

I agree.

Uni security have not been massively helpful. Quelle surprise. It could well have been a van just dropping something off with no permit required.

My insurer will find out all the details now they're looking into things for me. I also have legal cover, should that come in handy in any way.

A friend of mine (ironically also a 924 owner) threatened his own insurance company with the use of his legal cover to sue them when they were proving to be incompetent during a claim 😁 It was surprisingly effective!

For you, Porsche, ze war is over. Well, until I weld it back together tomorrow that is. I'm bolloxed if I'm paying for this: https://www.design91.uk/p/exhaust-rear-silencer-porsche-924-turbo-93111105006/?currency=GBP&country=GB&ppc_keyword=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19932577145&gbraid=0AAAAAD_S1pO1uOe8Yf6efLLv5-mw8bbrg&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8PDPBhCeARIsAOJwmWU2V1IuYYn9KJ2peUonDgB6r-CcN-TjC7YFZImcHTWVcSKJkSNc7s4aAnndEALw_wcB

Insurance situation is:

so it sounds like I need to pursue Admiral through my own legal cover, no? What a PITA.

More positively, found a friend on a trip to Aldi this morning:

A few more, especially for @Matty

As much as I despise them I would be considering engaging with an accident management company. Admiral's 4-year backlog is not your problem and certainly not an excuse to hold matters up. It's entirely possible they might expedite your claim after hearing from a firm of vultures who will bump up their costs exponentially.

That is one hell of a response from an insurance company.  Good thing that car insurance is dirt cheap and people don't mind driving around in pranged cars waiting for a four year bottleneck to be fixed.

Admiral insurance what an absolute shower of shite you are.

Well I'll do my bit to help Admiral get through their backlog by not buying insurance from them in future!

Just consider this. We supposedly have an ombudsman, but Admiral are continuing (and being allowed) to sell policies to the public whilst knowing they cant process any claims which may arise. Thats the bit that truly beggars belief. This country has been completely taken over by spivs and conmen.
