Isn't it amazing the stuff that gets left for dead these days.

Sniffing round a farm at work turned up this dead SSangyong Musso, and 51-reg transit pick-up complete with an inch of dust and all-flat tyres.

Some furtive 'over-hedge' action saw this cache of Land Rovers, but fear of getting "Tony Martin'd" precluded further investigation.

I'm led to belive that spare parts for those Musso things (which, considering theyre an 'SUV' seem strangely appealing) are comically expensive, thus it doesnt take much to render one u/s.

Posted

V reg Musso probably worth about £300 on a good day, even with MOT. Surprised at the Tranny pick up though - maybe a case of 'Diesel engine says no'

That Musso thing's taxed til April 2009.You'd think the owner would cash in the tax if he was leaving it for dead in a barn.Or maybe it's actually the owner who's dead...

Both the Daewoo and the truck are on SORN by the looks of things, so presumably not totally forgotten. It did cross my mind as to whether they were 'supposed' to be there, the place was quite remote and well shielded from the road....

was that during the May peak of scrap value?:lol::lol::lol:

I find Mussos and Korandos strangely appealing too in spite of their hideous interiors, but the parts thing does put me off a bit even though they seem quite rugged.

That Musso's actually a Daewoo-badged later model, understandably scarce because anybody buying one new at that time must've been even less intelligent than the average SUV buyer, most of whom probably plumped for a ML-class or X5. Motor probably the most valuable bit in that, weren't they Merc?

I could understand that a Sherpa/LDV might be completely humped after seven years hard graft, being cheaper to drive into an early grave and replace rather than service properly over that timescale, but I would've thought Transits were a degree more robust with residual values to match. Maybe something major's borked on it.

Hey Mr Weasel, totally off-topic,but you mentioned a liking for Old Speckled Hen.Asda are doing a 3 for 20 quid deal on beers & that's one that's included :)

The enquiry is complete

The vehicle details for V635 PBH are:

Date of Liability 01 04 2009

Date of First Registration 27 08 2002

Year of Manufacture 1999

...So does that make it an import, or that it was sat doing bugger all for 2-3 years?

Cheers. Typically it comes at the exact moment when I am not allowed any booze for a fortnight. Fugging penicillin.

Hey, I've been well RUBBARSH at spotting lately. Here's a couple I saw yesterday when I went shopping 4 dog food:

This VW was initially parked next to us, by the time I had de-camped the offspring, it was making a hasty escape

And this was causing all the beige-slacks types quite some excitement:

I always find it surprising how many of those Sunbeam Talbots are fitted with towbars. There's at least two that make regular appearances at shows near here, one often pulling a period folding caravan, complete with 1950's two-ring gas burner and kettle.

Posted

I saw a converticle one near me several times, including exchaging waves with the other driver but only during the ownership of my Rapier. Didn't see it before then and haven't seen it since. Rootes ghost following me?

Hnng. 'Barn door' saloons make me go weak at the knees.

I think I have developed a new 'strategy' for spotting.

It's basically lurking in one of the front bedrooms and waiting for old/interesting/unusual vehicles to come to me.

See. My plan is working.

It doesn't count if its things you've just bought.Go on - tell me its true! :D
