vivapower
its not bad really. picked it up from crewe on the 9th of this month for £300! currently having an engine rebuild as the piston rings are worn so it smokes like hell!. needs some welding to the usual rot spots but has 3 months t&t im thinking of putting a small block chevy into it and keeping it looking standard apart from a respray in brown or bright 70's muscle car green.(good old poverty spec fusion as the family car it gets an amazingly hard time )changed the grille as i like this one berrte and swapped the single wingmirror to a matching pair. i also have these two vivas. standard viva s was a one owner from new car thats having everything done. (exept the bloke welding it has screwed all the welding as its poo.)  this i picked up from a local scrappy with a MINT shell! tax free to. and if you had not guessed i love vauxhalls and i love viva's!!!. vivapower
It should be a darker metallic shade but has had a crap overspray with an opel colour and has scratches and runs everywhere (proper autoshite bodge style) it'll stay like this for now altho I do want a set of wellers for it and to lift the rear up a bit as it's to low. saabhappy
I learnt to drive in a Viva HC back in '72. Good cars.
MK5 Escort
A couple of lovely Viva’s there, vivapower. Especially the estate. DFM - nice and local to me too! I don’t think I’ve seen an estate Viva in the metal for, well, it scares me to think. Certainly a real rareity these days and povvo spec too. Well done! The HC Viva’s are amongst my favourite old Vauxhalls. I’ve always liked the look of them. I can only reiterate what others have said regarding the colour. I quite like them as they are, particularly the estate. That looks extreamly good. The Viva S’s paintwork doesn’t look too bad from the pictures - but then again, pictures can be deceiving. I adore the wheels on it (see below). I don’t mean to take interest away from your lovely Viva's, but something in one of your pictures has been bugging me. I hope you don't mind... ...I've got a funny feeling the silver Firenza with the black vinal roof behind it could very well be an old, lost, very familiar car to me . I know it's a long shot, but do you remember the registration number by any chance? It's just that my granddad, a former Vauxhall worker, had one identical to that from new (although it had the wheels on from the Viva S back then - or ones very similar with the chrome caps in the centre) for 24 years. It's been pictured here on autoshite before about 12/18 months ago and almost gave me a heart attack when I saw it again - MXD 689K. If so, I've got several very happy memories of that car as a child. A wonderful and always very faithful motor. If not, it's the first Firenza I've seen which is pretty much it's double! vivapower
well mr mk5 escort you may like these photo's!!.this car is always at the chalmondley castle shows (nr malpas) and comes in a convoy of 3/4 other vivas all owned by the same family. unfortunatley as i recall its now looking rather rough now but is used regularly.  my green estate has been upgraded with a magnum interior so has a rev counter and all that im trying to swap the engine as its crap and am going to billing in it next weekend and have loads to do!! .the viva s will be totally standard as its a rare limited edition and there are not many left now.i may reshell the green car into the blue car for the mint shell and then reshell my sportshatch into the spare shell as the shell was ROTTEN
Cavcraft
What a shame about the Sportshatch, did someone just like leave it outside a salt farm for 20 years or something?
vivapower
thats spot on actually. a north wales car all its life last registered owner died and it has sat in a few yards ever since. i "saved it" last year but had unbelievable rot! so has beed stripped and weighed in. i have lots of parts for the "restoration"im only missing the avon alloys rear axle a 2.3 engine and the stupdly hard to find strange sized cibe lights.
