Oldest car in your street..

Theres a fair selection here. Mostly less than eight year old mainstream stuff, but aside from my cars - couple of doors up has a seriously immaculate Mk2 Escort RS2000 and someone a bit further down has a TR4 that doesn't seem to come out much. Abandoned looking G plate R5 on a drive at the bottom of the street too.

My folks live in Bowdon, so you can imagine the sort of metal that gets driven [badly] round there. It's also adjacent to Hale where it really isn't uncommon to see two or three Ferraris, the odd Lamborghini and numerous highly specified Bentleys. I know of a bloke with a Flaminia Zagato in Hale as well, he sometimes takes it to the Tesco in Altrincham.

In terms of 'our' street, it's mostly dull German stuff. Most of the kids roll around in Binis or Corsas \ Clios. The oldest car I think is an L plated E36 320i, but the bloke spends more time washing it than cleaning it. Various Audis, lots of Mercs, several Chelsea Tractors ( ), a bizarre pre war Ford based special that I never seem to get a photo of (it looks like it's used in trialling), a solitary DB9......and an '07 C6 Corvette with Borla quads on it. It has hideous chrome 18"s but by Christ it sounds gorgeous on the rare times he takes it out.

After the Bimmer, there's a 02 plated Mk1 Focus and MOTHA_WAT'S 52 plate 206 CC. There's a knackered Eunos across the road as well which the bloke wanted £5K for recently. He told me to piss off when I noticed the filler in the A pillars. A nice 20 yarder though.

Next door neighbour has a mid 60's Humber Super Snipe rotting in the garage and an 81-ish Camaro. Fella down the road had a 30's MG, not sure if he's still got it. Other than that I recon my '92 Rover is the oldest 'normal' car. There is/was an 'N' plate Nissan Sunny 'Sequel', and ther was a 'B' plate Bedford CF ice cream van last year...

The oldest car on the street is SWMBO's Zafira (2000)

Until last year, the oldest was whatever I was driving at the time. Once, the neighbours came out and complained at the heap of junk I had - a 309

Loads of awesome cars

erm, can I have some pics please? I'd love to see that Aston...

The trouble with shite spotting is I tend to forget about the chod in my own road - of which there is quite a lot...

Here is the Aston:

Then over the road are these:

The MK1 Transit is on an F plate (TME 451F or something like that) and it hasn't moved for 10 years or more, like the Aston. The Maestro is a recent addition, but it too is derelict. The LR is in daily use 8)

I need to get pics of everything else (I think!) but trust me, they are here!

The oldest in my (13 houses!) street is my 1983 Sapporo, followed by my 1995 Fronterror although there is a early 60's T110 trumpet lurking in a neighbours garage. Fairly sure they think I'm a drug dealer or tatman. Or both. :-)

I live in Yes! Car! Credit!ville so the road is awash with four-year-old family hatchbacks. The Vectra rules my street, even just doing a mental walk down I can count about 8 or 9 (on a street of 70 houses).

A couple of BMW E36s slowly becoming scabby, three Mk4 Polos (one scened) and the rest just blurs into oblivion. No garages and driveways are at most Focus length so nothing really interesting at all.

Very few houses with driveways on my street. I've got the oldest car, 1991 H Sierra, though there is an F plate Granada on the adjacent street. It's wierd in that when I worked in the car hire business, I would frequently have the oldest and the newest car on the street. As it was some time ago these newest cars are now in the realms of Autoshite, if they have survived.

My T-reg Starlet is the oldest but one "normal car" in my street. It's saying something when you go out and buy what I consider a newish car and it's still nowhere near everyone elses!

Actually I got the curtains twitching today because I backed the Violet out into the close to have a swap round and the b'stard wouldn't start again so I spent a good part of the day out there with the bonnet up outside one of my neighbours' and tools everywhere :P Tut tut.

Goes now though, turns out it was the condenser.

As far as I know, the oldest car in our street is a 79 Mini 1275 GT, which is minty - the fella seems to be a bit handy with restoring. I don't really know the chap, but his mates seem to have some nice stuff: equally minty mark 1 XR2 (82 I think), another Mini of indeterminate age with external door hinges, a Bobby Ewing Merc to name but a few.

From bottom of the street:

08 Mazda 6 estate

09 Chevrolet Matiz & 05 Scenic

98 Escort and some shitheap Laguna

03 Kia Cerato. This is our neighbour, also called Andy who has had some weapons grade SHITE over the years. He was severely pissed off when he was told he couldn't get new Ladas anymore

(Us) 02 Rover 25 & S-type V6, 09 X Type estate 2.2D Sport (coming soon 1989 Suzuki GSXR 750)

2010 Toyota Rav 4, 99 Toyota Picnic 2,2 TD, 2009 Yaris-thing, cracking brand new HUGE caravan which we have been offered any time we want it.

04 Fuckass TDi estate

09 Hyundai i10

07 Poxhall Zafira which breaks down a lot, 07 Poxhall 3-pot Suzuki clone thing

01 Ford Focus auto - looks new, owned by a youngish lad who is a site engineer

02 Hyundai Accent El Cheapo Special Edition

Now we come to the would-be "snobs". They have a yappy wee dog and an equally irritating Astra (07). They look down the schnozz at everyone. They were well pissed off at Xmas when my extended family were round for a drink etc., as well as a lot of the neighbours. You should have seen the look on the woman's face as she walked past ours with said dog. As well as our cars outside the house was my mate's Vanquish, 2 x 911 Carerra 4 S, my Dad's S Type-R, A RR Sport and me oul mate Albert's 1979 Rolls Royce. Every kid in the street (including the snobs grandkids) wanted their photo taken with the "James Bond car". Priceless!!

I think on mine (24 or so houses) it's a chav-dad E30 'Alpina' Cabriolet which I think is on a B. Next oldest is a Mk4 Escort Cab and then after that possibly an N reg Ibiza. Up until recently our neighbour had a car which I thought was from 1905-ish, but I cant remember the name (I thought it was Excalibur but Google not helping) and he's now moved away..

The oldest one!

Next to it is an R-reg ZX estate that crawls down the road at max 5mph at 7am every day. Never seen it move any faster, youngish (30s) bloke drives it.

Its probably worth mentioning that I live on the same road as a very important BMW dealership, so half the time nearly a third of the cars on my street are brand new Beemers. Because I live above a shop, there is some tasty stuff parked outside on the odd occasion, but generally that tends to be proper classics and not shite. There was a Traction Avant outside a few days ago, followed the next day by some Cobra of some sort. There was once a Subaru 360 parked for a couple of days, so annoyed I didnt photo it. The only other interesting cars in my small village is a D reg Suburban and a P100 pickup which has been here since new.

I don't live on a street, but there are lots of old cars still running in West Wales. L reg cars are still quite common, off the top of my head I can think of about 10 in the area.

The oldest car in Lampeter in regular use is either a fairly mint Minor, H reg I think, or my mates J reg Volvo 144. There are also several pre 73 Land Rovers about, some of them genuine as well
