I think the Volvo 240 is another example that was manufactured after its successor (I'd argue the 740) was withdrawn from production, and the original Mini outlasted the Metro/100. The Metros had a big overlap with the newer ones being launched on a G reg, but plenty of older ones were registered on an H reg, & the vans on a J. Nearly all rally cars with missing details/strange provenance went on Qs, hence why a lot of the homologated cars at the time (205s, Sierras, Escort Cossies) were running them, would have expected the same in this case. sheffcortinacentre is probably right, perhaps something to do with a RWD swapped MK3/4. Richard_FM Posted October 15, 2020 Share Posted October 15, 2020 I was looking up a the partial registration of a Ford Sierra in a magazine by typing all the potential combinations into the Auto Trader checker. All the cars that came up were Fords registered in May 1983, only one was a Sierra of the same trim level, but I was surprised to find one was a Cortina about 7 months after they were dropped from the range.
