Had a spare hour, made some decent progress.

 

Stripped all the ply lining and floor out. 

Cleaned all the walls, fitted the Dodomat sound deadening. 

Insulated one side.

Realised I’d insulated right over where the window needs to go. 😂

Parcelforce then turned up with the Maxxfan Deluxe!

I think you’ve probably worked out by now I have a pretty impulsive and impatient personality 😂 I also know the budget will soon get eaten on other things if I don’t get everything ordered ASAP! 
 

I’m aiming to get the windows in on bank holiday Monday, possibly the roof fan too if I don’t fuck the window fitting up 😂

I know fuck all about solar but this was cheap. 


 

DC to DC charger also arrived, went for the Bluetooth upgrade so I can keep an eye on things from my phone.

Putting the hours in! That’s all 4 rolls of insulation done. I imagine I’ll need another 2

as I’ve still got the roof and overhead storage area to do. Going to leave the roof until I’ve fitted the roof fan though.

Not huge progress the last day or two, I did manage to pick up some 12mm ply  for the floor yesterday though.

Today it has rained flat out all day so I’ve been restricted on what I could get done. Managed to clean the floor properly and then stuck down the lengthways battens. Started to cut some of the horizontals but then ran out of time. 
 

Plan is tomorrow and Monday to try and get the battens finished, PIR Board cut, windows fitted and possibly the roof fan but I doubt it. I also had the solar panel mounting kit arrive today.

Right some more progress. Messy job. 

Just need do hoover the floor and cover all the joins in foil tape, then I can trace the old floor ply onto the new 12mm, lay that and we have a finished floor bar the vinyl.

Oh and I may have bought another number plate so thought I’d stick it on the van.

Yeah that’s next on my list to work out what I’m having where. We are going to keep the double seat in the front on this one but still remove the bulkhead, one of the potential layouts I have in mind would include a small cupboard directly behind the passenger seat which would house all the electrics/leisure battery etc so all I’d need to do is run wiring from that up to the ceiling for lights, kitchen area to power a fridge and a water pump, and to the bed area to power a couple of USB sockets.  Not bothering with a full shore power outlet or inverter, don’t use it enough so will probably just carry one of those camping hookups just in case!

Might be worth checking the old ply is still a good fit. Dimensions may be slightly different now it'll be sitting on top of the insulation/battens instead of a bit lower down

Yeah good shout, I think it’ll be fine but deffo worth laying it back in for the sake of 5 mins of my time.

Might be worth laying a piece of string in the conduit under the floor, for extra wiring you think of the moment the floor is laid...

Never done windows on anything motorised, how does the angled bit at the back of the door lower corner seal to the glass?

Wouldn't it be easier if the window followed the profile? I guess they're generic?

Someone enlighten me?

Although the cut is like this, you still glue a rectangle - I guess it’s just part of the structural design of the sliding door as all vans I’ve seen have been like it.

Bulkhead out, been sorting all the wiring layout in my head and it’s all going in the walls so I can lay the floor now. I just need to get time to cut it and fit it.

Ordered £160 worth of cabling, fuse board, circuit breakers, ceiling lights etc. Think we just need a leisure battery now. 
 

Not sure on fridge/sink/hob at the moment as the budget is all but gone, may just get the woodwork done and then those bits can be added as and when.

How are you going to deal with condensation? As wouldn't there be a lot of it now behind that insulation?

It’s a big discussion on the camper groups but the general consensus is to not use a vapour barrier, letting it breathe is better. The insulation is recycled plastic bottles so is waterproof at least!

Seriously debating an Ikea daybed for sleeping arrangements. Pulls out to a double, comes with 2 mattresses, ideal size.

Have you thought what type to go for? This makes interesting reading on the pros and cons of going lithium.

I'm probably going to try lead carbon AGM next time I need to change my leisure batteries on the LT, as it probably does hammer them  if we use the AC when parked.

Watch their stuff for damp resistance  - saw an IKEA sink upstanding thing recently that was only water resistant rather than proof. Delaminating like mad it was

Isn't the fridge/sink/hob a 'must have' to get it re-classified as a camper rather than a van with DVLA ?
