Ghost 👻 in the Machine....

Walked around the back of the car, lights on/engine running, and drivers tail is out 🫤

Remove entire unit - engine running - remove bulb = looks ok 🙄

Swap for identical other bulb in array, after reconnecting plug = no light.

Put car into reverse, rev lights on.... tail lamp on 😵‍💫

..... take bulb out and reinsert and no light again.

Put car into neutral/back into reverse, rev lights on.... tail lamp on. Remove/reinsert, out again 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Reassemble the lamp housing and reinstall in car 😶‍🌫️

Tail lamp now on... Switch engine off/lights off/restart/lights on... Tail lamp is on.... 👀

I know all sorts of CANBUS magic occurs, sensing a bulb is failed etc, but what tf!

Hope it doesn't have a 'senior moment' at the MOT 😱

...... unfortunately, my centre hanger bracket is M.I.A. so *very temps = I have a hooked rod, taking the weight.

A quick shoot up the lift, @Kevs, and some bending of rod + a clamp will return rigidity/support of the length 😁

Our 39th Wed Anniversary, today, and for a treat I dragged SWMBO back over to Carlisle for lunch...

Ooooh 😋 = lunch was excellent BUT the soundtrack, on the drags along Military Rd 🎉🍻

The *temporary hook (supporting the centre section) was very evident... at certain revs... sending a boom through the shell. Annoying!!

Knowing we need this sort of thing...

I will straighten the rod/remove handle.

I will kink two 90° bends, about an inch apart at halfway, making an open Z ....

I will notch the throat of the 2" U clamp so the rod will be gripped firmly to the Ex pipe and creating two straight out arms which I shall turn again 90° to loop through the mounting rubber bobbins 👍😉

Need another dry spell (Kev is very busy)

Up ramps (... front this time) and squirm under...

Yark on pipe, looks ok.... Bangs pipe with fist 'clack'.. again several times 'clack, clack...'

It turns out that the car body horn & exhaust horn [for the rubber bobbins] n/s are the same height >> the exhaust isn't exactly central so the horns are contacting (.. with engine movement, in reverse!!)

I gave the two parts a massive yark, with the jemmy, and a bit of creaking has left the two parts well apart....

IF the ffn noise comes back I'll sort with a rubber bung jammed in 🙄.

Silence pervades.....

I’ve run with Kumho’s off and on for years for me and Mrs Wire’s cars, never had an issue, tough and durable. Their winter tyres are especially good.

Because my soopa doopa poopa pipe is freshly installed and supported fully....

.... I have a *nice problem 😱

The rubber binocular shape hoop, supporting the back box isn't under sufficient load = the back box hanger arm had worked out of position (showing the box a smidge lower than it should be)

I will buzz some tywraps onto the hanger.... Leaving them with a bit of tail on and that will prevent it walking off.

Fits well neat 🛠️👍

Being out n about in AVAS daily, listening to the music on my thumb stick, we get around all the 308 tracks on 'ramdom play' quite regularly.....

This plopped thru the mail yesterday....

My trusty ThinkPad ripped them all off & pasted them onto the thumb stick PDQ 😁

From ffinn about under here this morning, I discovered the issue with the back box is ACTUALLY... 🙄...

 

.... Though I have weighed well onto the 13mil nuts >> it's not quite crushing the pipe flange = the back box can snake about/shift on the mount 🤬

I will get a new 60mil u-clamp & re lash on the ex sealer and have another go.....

I'll get Kevin to do the Discs+Pads.

The sparkplugs require a Tx40 tip, to remove the coil pack. I have the slim sparkplug socket 👍

Air filter is simple... I may scooche the MAF with cleaner.

Oil change (.. on the frosty ground 🙄) @ 97k.

Mebbies I've come to a point where a garage service schedule/spanner monkey duty of care will be 'the future' 🛠️⚰️

Whilst it's up, I'll attack the back box 🛠️😉

My local ATS can sort out my 4x new tyres (see what's on offer in Kumho) AND do my MOT at the same time 👍 ....  Someday around Dec 10th.

Plugs + A/filter before MOT.... but it's a standing up job 🙂
