The ironic thing is, I had 4 attempts at joining this site!(although I still haven't worked out how to post a pic of any description - so the spam bots are undoubtedly cleverer than me!)

Just a word of caution, Admin staff, the newest phBB - 3.0 is a bit tricky at first, think there still might be a few bugs to iron out too, looks good though.

We definitely won't be losing any more posts, ever. First of all the original disaster was a mistake made by the shadowy technicial moderator which although could not be rectified (he tried and tried), is something we're now fully aware of and thus wont ever be doing again. Took delivery today of a My Book 500GB External Hard Drive to do better backups of the forum/site too. Although there is a weekly one performed by the hosts (on Sundays), the purge occurred on a Saturday, and so by the time we were aware of the scale of the problem (more than 2 days later) it had been written over with the new saved version. Still really gutted about that, but one learns from one's mistakes. I was one of many who lost all of their spotting thread, but at least I've stil got al the photos saved on the old C drive, maybe for re-posting at a later date. Also particularly gutted about losing the Roadline topic, but no use crying over spilt milk now, I'm sure we'll get a better one created eventually. The shadowy technician one is intending to upgrade this forum any time soon to the newest version, and of course we'll be changin the registration so these goddam viagra and porn spammers can go take their wares elsewhere. Mr H Sceptre does a god job of trying to weed them out during the registration process, but we can only ever take a judgement on the name.So far Volksy and Retrogeezer have offered to mdoderate, and I rememebr a long time ago some others offered too. We are very grateful for this and will probably decide after the new version is in place very soon.
