Trig's Show Photos - Ipswich Aviation Museum show 16/10

That one still has the correct black wheel trims found on the early cars ( they only lasted til March '77) and hopefully still the black rear panel between the lights.

It would also have had a little square Leyland badge at the bottom of each front wing...but finding one with that still intact would be akin to finding a fried Mars bar in Gillian McKieths wee gob!

Correct, This one also looks like it has a Union Jack flag on the wings.

The Audi seems to be a Sport. Not sure about the aftermarket wheels though.

A plate is too early for a Sport.

Its probably one of these

I can personally couch for the utter lunacy that is a Hillclimb spec dialynx on high octane race fuel on London roads. One of those memories that will always stay with me.

Me nearest camera (it is LHD). Note carbon/kevlar roof skin.

.

VERY nice.

I did a little check. Car was first registered 10th December 1976.

Chassis No: ACG 3401 This denotes a 1976 model year car, production ending October 1976 with chassis number ACG4688. 1977 model year starts with chassis ACG 10001

The little Leyland badge was deleted for '77 model year so this car would deffo have had them originally.

Colour was called New White and all early cars had black cord trim. :D

P.S I like TR7s almost as much as Talbots

Thanks for adding these, they are the ones I saw on Flickr (I used one as a wallpaper on my desktop for a while), do you know anything about the Escort? or did you see the owner? was it a nice old chap or did he look like a minilite yearning Roger Clarke wannabe with a boot spoiler in one hand and hammer and nails in the other?

  • 2 weeks later...

On Sunday i went to the ccar show at Battlesbridge Antiques Centre near Southend, It was a bit of a damp, overcast day and a lot of the cars started living at 12.30 when i got there which was a shame.

And for some reason all my photos seem slightly blurry and dark, Still haven't got to grips with this new camera.

Top pictures mate. Small world on the Amazon front - I know who that 80 Grey one belongs to. Other than the sunroof it's pretty much identical in spec to mine. Except the bumpers are nice. And his has wheel covers, which I'm not keen on.He's called Derek and he's a VOC member. Top bloke by all accounts, he has several Amazons.

I think this might have been car of the show for me, It's totally original, only done 44000 miles and never welded or sprayed, It was for sale, The chap wanted £3795 for it i think which i didn't think was too bad.

I nearly bought this very car last year, I went home to think about and it sold overnight, I was gutted but at least it's still cared for, It was only £800 as well.

I never saw the Rover 800 Hearse in the back ground of this photo, Bugger!.

There was also two cars stolen from the show that day, My wife said she heard people talking to the police about something being stolen, Turned out it was a 1969 Rover 9XD (?) though the photos show a P5B Coupe, and a Triumph TR5, All stolen from the car park, How shitty is that.

I'm not that far from Battlesbridge. Gah, i would have gone if I'd known that was on.Is there any way we could get a list of upcoming shows added as a sticky? Some sort of calendar option somewhere?

As I said on some of these on flickr, great shots. I wish there had been that many Granadas at the show I went to! Shame about the cars being stolen, perhaps specific targets considering what else was parked there.

I wasn't sure if that was the one or not as it said it was a 1969 model and that one i took was a 1971 but the papers did get the model wrong by calling it a 9XD and it's the right colours.

The other car was this TR5, Reg number MOE 954F

Battlesbridge is on again in September, It's normally a bit better then as well as it's one of the last of the year and it's warmer.

Some excellent cars there Trig. I really do want an Orion 1600E now.Highlight for me is the Affordable man's very early 2-dr Cortina GXL especially since it is a local car for me almost certainly supplied by Crystal in Hull. One of the first sold round here no doubt.
