Stretched Shite

That's luv-er-ly!! Never seen a 25 limo like that before- most of them appear to have widened B posts, but never seen one wide enough to put a window in!! Have seen a pic of one with ordinary B posts, but much longer rear doors, which would seem a far easier way of lengthening the shell. What's the story with this particular car?

That prompted me to Google Heuliez, and there's loads of fascinating stuff they've done! Everything from trucks and coaches to sports cars, plus custom jobs on all sorts of French shite. Way too much to post it all, but the following two caught my eye- both from foreign language sites I can't translate.

Is this a Chrystler 180 Estate?

And this beauty is a Fuego convertable, methinks?

Hi, and yes, I did see that thread. I have seen that limo before, but had no idea what it was called. It has always amazed me that Heuliez chose to stretch the 25 by cutting it in two through the b-post!! It would surely be so much easier to leave the post alone and just lengthen the rear door opening, as on this one.

I spent some time wrestling with the website yesterday, and that very pic, plus one of your limo, are now on it. Phew!!

Apparently there are a few of these around Bangkok of all places!

This is one very long SLAAB! I can explain.

An acquaintance from Holland went shopping for a car in Thailand, c 1999. He wanted to buy with cash and toured northern Thai dealerships with a Thai interpreter and a briefcase packed with 1000b notes PLUS his cheque book.

He had 3 stipulations. Whatever car he bought had to be top of the range, green and NOT Japanese. His decision, he made it clear, would be made purely on the best discount offered. Saab at that time had a yard full of top spec models in Bkk (almost 100, it was said) and were DESPERATE to get rid of them fast before the new facelifted version was announced. After a few days delay while they found him one in green, he took delivery at a discount of 25%. Yes, 25%!!!!!!!!!!

And the others were bought by Bkk entrepreneurs, many of whom STREEEETCHED them as limos to make money out of that specialist market, dominated by stupidly expensive Mercs. 'Cos the SLABS were so cheeeeep!

May the force go with you. Market forces.

The stretched Saab 9000 was a fairly rare bird as the Scorpio was still in production at the time and seemed to be the vehicle of choice for the funeral trade. With the demise of the Scorpio, and the Omega, the 9-5 seems to be the current reasonably priced relacement, and they are quite popular. Still way above shite price levels, but given time :)http://www.coleman-milne.co.uk/colemanm ... ils&id=289

Posted this pic in another thread, but got no reply- must've been missed, coz I'm sure SOMEONE on here will know what it is! I saw it through the trees, round the back of a house, but couldn't see it very clearly, so took a pic on full zoom. It looks to me like a stretched Range Rover, but not one of the versions I've seen before. Does anyone recognise it?
