Think there is a thread here with old family photos, but I can't find it, so I'm making my own now of some of my granddads cars.

His last car was an Escort estate which I believe was one of the last sold in Norway. It was shit and was scrapped with 60,000km on it.

Dad's transporter and uncle's Datsun?

Dad had this Transit for a long time and I have many good childhood memories from it. It was a 1984 long wheel base 2 seat row so 6 seater diesel scrapped in 2008.

Even more cars to grandpa

The 1974 Datsun 120Y was scrapped in 1992. There wasn't much room for 4 kids, 2 parents and holiday luggage in this, so grandfather ended uo having to buy a trailer for the holiday trips.

I especially love the Renault 12, they came in some nice colours then. It looks well loaded up!

What's the red car with the boot and doors open, it's the photo below the black VW Beetle.

Great photo’s, thanks for sharing I love old pictures. The Taunus estate is my favourite, I love the colour too. The Granada and Transit are great also.

Grandpa had a car buying sickness from the 1960s to the 1980s, so many cars were sold and bought, and Grandma probably came close to killing him a few times. I don't know how he managed it on a factory worker salary with 4 kids.

Here is a rare picture of grandpa with one of his beetles sometime in the 1960s.  Grandma was from a little further up in Norway, so every summer the car was loaded up with children and luggage and driven 600km to where she came from. The memories of being 4 kids and parents in a car with holiday luggage and a dad chain smoking on dusty bumpy gravel roads in the summer heat are well remembered by dad.

I'll see if I can find more.

I have Googled similar cars and it's a Datsun 1000. Quite a rare car even back then I'd  imagine.

I thought it was Japanese from the looks of it. Nice to know what it is. Thanks.

I love seeing old snaps like this, especially the holiday photos with overloaded cars and excited kids everywhere.

Yours are particularly good as I spent loads of childhood holidays in Scandinavia in the 1980s and loved spotting all the unusual local caravans like Polar and Solifer, all usually towed by Ford or Volvo estates. Seemed so much more exotic than our Sprite Mustketeer on the back of a Carlton!

That’s a nice collection of cars, and in colour, like cars were back then!

It seems like you’ve had a solid upbringing with Fords in various flavours.

Not exactly grandpa became  loyal to Ford, but it was a lot thanks to the local dealer who always sorted things out as some of the cars were not without problems.

My mother's family was dominated by Volvo so my first car memory was a green Volvo 145 which I also think I had my first drive in from the hospital.

The last Ford my dad owned was the Transit and nobody I know of now owns a Ford, most have cars from Korea and Japan now.

An update on this. Have been in contact with the current owner of this and it still exists but is to rusty to be saved and has/is been used as a parts car. So it is not possible to get it back on the road, unfortunately.
