A car that no one here has owned or driven?

Haven't seen one of those for years, or for that matter a Datsun Stanza.

Drove one of those for a while  - 1600cc of raw power* - couldn't hold fifth gear on any sort of slope even with just the driver on board. Bland, comfortable and very unforgettable.

Yes back in the late 2000s some of the stuff that is now almost extinct could easily be had with MOT for about £500. Unfortunately my living arrangements back then did not allow me to have more than one car so I missed out on that era. At least I got to spectate though!

I'm fairly sure someone had a Seat Ronda. Something tells me it was again Mr_Bollox. I think he had also an Isuzu Florian which I seem to remember someone else having an example of too. I can also distantly recall he was having trouble finding a windscreen for it (unsurprisingly).

What about a Citroen Bijou?

My uncle owned a Bijou in the 70's,I still have an insurance certificate for it somewhere....

My friend Siani has one. It's badged as a HiJet though.

Yes, there was a collaboration between Daihatsu and Piaggo, I've had 3 Hijets all made in Italy. There were loads of Porters on the roads when I went over there a few years back.

A Rytecraft. Been fascinated by them since seeing a photo of being driven by the military in WWII.

Then finally saw an actual one at a classic show in Alicante. The want got stronger!

This is the exact attire I would wear driving one.

But there's a yellow B90 with modded bonnet scoop behind the green one.

along similar lines how about a Johnstone's Miniature Coach?

the thing that I find really amusing about these is they genuinely where road-registered back in the day, and there a handful still live on the DVLA, a few of which are *genuinely* registered as single decker buses/coaches,

I shit Ye not!

image.png.014d77d101d09c340920acb11c0d07b4.png

aside from the very real risk of getting squashed, I would so love to do a tour of London Bus lanes with one just for maximum piss take "it says buses only and I am technically a bus!"

id also love to book one in for a PSV/HGV MOT and turn up to the test station with it  "haha very funny with the toy coach now wheres the actual coach?" "uhh this is it!" *gets punched in the face*

not actually sure if they fit within the "sub 5K shite" category mind, although I dont think I have ever seen one come up for sale!

I mean in shite money today, say sub £5k. What I'm getting at is, could you go onto eBay/gumtree/c&c and pick up something which no one here has ever owned or driven that is pre-2001?

@EyesWeldedShut sorry. Our mum had one back in the day, with the daft robotised manual.

Drove it several times, always having to press the accelerator about 1 second before you wanted to move.

Comfortable and good access through the massive doors.

They have a honda Jazz hybrid now, a much better car in every conceivable metroc

Yep those boxes were absolutely dire for that. Far too unpredictable for my liking, a lot of the newer ones are exactly the same

Anyone else driven an FBS Census?  I drove one around the Alpine handling circuit at Millbrook and it was rather good

However good it drives... I wouldn't be able to come to terms with looking like I'd ordered a type 916 Alfa Spider from Wish.com. :D

I had one when I was 14-17, used to use it most days, including getting the shopping in it and taking it to school (one day we held the doors open through the corridors and our physics teacher took it for a high-speed race through). Chain used to pop off the tensioner tackling pinnacle hill in Kelso and the control box failed - I had single battery, early controller, white boot and full weather gear, hi-vis and mirrors but no indicators. Always thought the mirrors were a real high point of the styling, the way they blended in.

Too expensive now but as a former fan of recumbent bikes, owner (and borrower) of some decent-spec eBikes and fan of Sinclair's story I would love to get a C5 and fix the many issues, including a proper bike-style geared drive, adjustable pedal or seat relationship, crank motor and high-power Li-Ion packs (or even AGM/lead acid gel) with energy recuperation.

And a brake light and indicators.

Problem is I can't afford a good one now and I really would be sad with an incomplete/scuffed one.

A few of us, ogled the brand new Sinclair C5, that was displayed in the window of the old Adam Purves showroom (now a Greggs) in Galashiels back in the day.

NSU Prinz anyone?

There was an old dear in the village, when I was a boy, that owned one.

There was another family in the village that had the Ro80.

From my recollection, they were both troublesome cars.
