r.welfare.yes Renault assembled in NZ by Campbell Tube Industries who went on to be the Toyota assembly plant untill killed off with all the rest of the motor industry. They still exist (possibly owned by Toyota) as the checking and refurbishing point for used cars imported by Toyota. They also built Peugeot, Datsun and Rambler to name a few.

Love the 'Exceed' badge you get on Mitsubishis - the equivalent of Ghia or Vanden Plas. They probably think it means 'excellent' but its closer to 'excessive' in my mind.

Posted

It's a wonder given the translations we see that they don't use "excessive" instead of exceed

anyway a bit from yesterday.an old canter caravan on LPG

and the Rootes Group boys an girls are in town..

Came cross these today. I was so busy trying to get the 2 beside each other before the lights changed that I didn't notice what was to my left. They were not together as they all went in different directions. How often would this happen.

Caught up with this old Ferguson being taken somewhere. Me speeding to try and catch it before I turned off and getting the camera ready , glanced in the mirror and Highway Patrol car was right there..just watching. And that Mazda must have ben playing in the puddles :)

Hi Lux from about 1990

Posted Image

Here, off subject I realise, but my kiwi friend Ratboy says that Rotorua smells of eggs, and people are buried above ground. Can you corroborate this?Oh, and whatever that camper in the first photo is, I'll have one.

Posted

That Rootes-fest reminds me that there's a bloke in Hull who collects old Humbers, and has a wedding fleet all liveried up the same - IIRC, he has had an open night at his garages, and he had a load of them on display at the local Humber centenary a few years back. I'll try and dig out more info ...

Posted

Off subject today..reply to binhoker668's question re above ground burials

the photo will answer that :)

Posted Image

And just across the road the reason why, a hot spring. Would you like your dead relatives gently cooked after burial ?

Posted Image

And for all of you who have just got their heating bills, how about the system below. Drill a hole in the ground (we call it a steam bore ) connect it to a heat exchanger (in the box) and connect that to your central heating and hot water, turn on the big tap and sit back with a warm smile on your face. My grandmother also had a steam cooker in the system at her place. The gauge shows the steam pressure.

And the smell.. Quotes from tourists,

smells like poo, rotten eggy farty poo !

and, Iv'e produced nicer smells after eating Mcdonalds

It is I think Hydrogen Sulphide gas or something similar and if you live here it isn't noticeable most of the time, as the gas comes and goes.

And for the record I live out of the thermal area so I pay heating bills  and the main city cemetary is a 6 feet under job.

Hey - Thanks for such a clear reply! And cheers from Ratboy as well for the photos of home!Still bustin' to get over there sometime...Awesome tat to be found evidently - and in really good nick too eh?

If only my factories could get away with that amount of Sulphur emissions!! A single post-McMuffin* fart out here gets a visit from the EPA!!*for McMuffin, read cardboard-like noodles in soup with a very old hard boiled egg and chicken foot. Yes, they do walk in their own excrement. Just adds to the occasion...

binhoker668. The camper is a Mitsi Canter about 1974.

Had to laugh at this item in the paper ! How to solve your parking woes

Posted Image

Posted

There's a hospital near me that rakes in over £2million a year for parking- except it doesn't. A private company gets all the money for doing close to sweet FA :x Since that news story I think they have introduced even higher, time-related, charges to the closer car parks and raised the standard visit rate to £1.80. I'm not sure because I always park on the road outside, which involves less walking than their multi-storey.http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2007/10/26/newsstory10469058t0.aspBecause the parking charge is per visit it's not uncommon for people to park there while they go off on holiday and I imagine there are people parking there even longer term.
