Im sat sitting watching Coronation St with the wife, nipper and inlaws. The MIL has just casually mentioned that the dentist where she works has a barn-find PORKA tucked away that he wants shot of, no charge, just take it. So far theres no details other than its a 1970's Porsche, it may even be a late 60's model. What are the odds on..1) Its not a 70's Porsche, but actually a 1995 Escort.2) Its not a freebee but £7,500.3) I never hear anything back. ever.4) Its doesnt exist at all.Im sure we all have a story on "the one that got away" Ive got a funny feeling this may be one of those stories!

Lol, true Outlaw118. False Pogweasel.

This situation reminds me of an Escort I was asked to remove from a friend of the wifes Grandparents who had sadly passed away. Started out as a 1969 2 door escort with 9k on the clock and absolutley zero rust. Opened the garage- 3 door Mk4 escort with 40k on the clock. and scabs. Nice but not as nice as id possibly hoped.

Agreed. Everyone, even none car people know that an old Porsche has some value so the likelihood of it actually being true are genuine.Probably that its an old Beetle or something that looks a bit like a Porsche if you squint a bit in the half light of the barn. And it'll be full of dead mices, covered in pigeon crap and generally requiring a full restoration.

As soon as I can I suppose. The MIL was very sketchy on the details other than "its a 1970s or 60s Porsche" so to be fair it probably is all bollocks but a shite lead like this needs to be followed up before someone else gets there or its gets given to the scrap man. The MIL will speak to the guy tomorrow at work and wel go from there.

I suppose if someone had taken half a look and seen System Porsche they might think its a porsche and not a Seat.

In which case, bollocks to any old Porsche, there could be an early Malaga or Ibiza sat there awaiting rescue.Far more interesting than some old Porsche.(on here at least)

you may find you might be lucky  last year a friend of mine told me off an old mk1 scrote tucked away in a barn where he was delivering feed, the old farmer told him it was his sons and that 28 years ago the engine had siezed while looking the sheep  and that he was sick off the sight of it, when he told me i said i would take it as they are quite sought after nowadays,to cut along story short my friend took it and shoved it on the evilbay and it sold for 3 and a half thousand it was an RS 2000 so it just goes to show some people still dont know the true value off what they own

When I came back from the States to Edinburgh in 1989 whilst visiting a farm in Fife I found a Mk2 Austin Healey Sprite with wire wheels and fibreglass flip front..unfortunately the owner was in Germany...and i couldnt get in contact with him!

The next time I went out to a farm of some wealthy artist friends in Fife..they had a Daimler Majestic Major in their stable block..its possible that this was actually my parents wedding car [i found that out years later]..and Renee said I could have for the price of a 500quid Mini...Mum said she d get that for me..but sadly Renee's soon to be ex had promised it to another bloke who'd put a 10 quid deposit on it..so I never got that either!
