Non performing ICE. It turns on but nae VOLUME! Located AMP in boot yesterday, main loom and fibre optic cables where disconnected from the AMP. Tried reconnecting, but still no joy.

Removed the CD changer and AMP, removed AMP (BOSE) from carrier and the wife has kindly agreed to take it here to assetain whether it's fubar or not? Hoping it is fixable and that once repaired we will have VOLUME! Moonroof also stopped and then started working again. That's now been treated to some silicone grease and seems to be working better(er). V5 arrived in the post, so I guess I should at least consider taxing it - next week/month.

More bulb issues. O/S rear indicator bulb this time, but get this, it switches to the 'alternative bulb', which is the outer of the twin sidelight bulbs and uses that as the indicator. Now that's clever. Will check the errant bulb and holder later.

I'm sure my Vectra used to do that and switch the brake lights too if necessary. It was a while ago so I'm  not entirely sure now but I think it did

The AMP is kaput and even although the repair shop is a Bose dealer and it could be repaired, the parts required to repair it aren't available from Bose or Mercedes, so it's scrap. Only option is to find replacement from a scrappy.  :(

That could happen, but in the meantime I'm just going to get a wind up radio as it will give the wife something to do on the Autobahn other than say, slow down, watch that lorry, you're going too fast, look out what's he doing?

Dull stuff done like hoovering and shampooing the rugs, dash, seats, center console, ECUs and battery, came up well. Also greased all the door hinges, the big boot was harder than it should be  to open and shut. Much improved already. Has that new car to me smell of shampoo now. Some parts have arrived, brakes, all of them, and they're being fitted along with radiator swap, oil service and fuel filter. £280 odd quid in parts. Used a company called AGR Automotive via eBay. Good service (made sure I got the correct rear pads first time) and availablity of stuff for Mercs at least, excellent prices and the parts received are name brands, comline, blueprint etc. Worth a look. Not going near the 16 plugs, coils, any of that, as they're all bloody perfect. So other than that, 100,000 mile service. Check. Also filled up with Shell VPower which is available for 181.9pl, which seems good value in the current clusterfuck of times.... Hope to be able to source 0% ethanol abroad, might even smuggle some home with us, worth more than whisky lol.

Look forward to getting it back on Tuesday. Money spent on brakes, suspension and tyres is never money wasted. You can't say that about cocaine and BMWs. 🍺

Richt, this was collected from the friendly local indy today, all the work mentioned previously completed, the radiator swap didn't happen as he ran out of, time,  :D that's now back in the shed. The mechanic/owner was clear that I didn't want know how much that ABC will cost to fix if when it goes wrong. It will be ruinous, mate. I said I did know and asked him if he thought it would get us around Europe. He said yeah I think it should be alright, no leaks. That'll do me mate. Sounds like Range Rover odds to me and I'll take 'em.

Bill was £450 (including front discs as the ones I supplied were the wrong hat size, grrrrr), about the same as an oil change and pollen filter at a shiny MB stealer. It was then off to Dundee & dropped of at National tyres where four Goodyear Asymmetric 6s  were applied, while I had a quiet afternoon 'pint' just doon the road in the Frews Bar.  Good deal and service from Mike and team. They, National have been taken over by Halfords and didn't seem very happy about that really.

Don't think the parked brake works very well yet, even with new shoes, needs to bed in a bit probably; but who cares about that, MOT is no due till Oct, and that's weeks away man.... Early days with the tyres, but it deserves UHP tyres and yon Goodyear 6s are about the best summer tyres on the market and were available at a fair fully fitted price. Must have a wee go up yon A93 yin o' these days, that would be a laugh.

More motoring done. We're now down the south east coast having stayed at Licoln last night, nice town, had a good pizza couple o beers and cheap digs which were also fine. Motored further south and stopped in Godmanchester to have crack in rear O/S wheel repaired. National spotted it when new rubber was applied, thanks. Turned out was also buckled so took the morning for the repair and truing up. Slight vibration remaining around 80 has gone and repair looks decent so overall I'm happy and can stop worrying about it now.

Made it to Munich, currently in the House of Beer this could get messy... Here till Thursday, CL having a well earned rest. Arrived late last night and as we parked up the coolant warning low popped up on the dash, bless. Yesterday was back roads all the way in 30c heat.  those Goodyear tyres are amazing, haven't been near breaking traction or understeering, just endless grip. Epic.

Took a run by Sindelfingen the town the CL500 was built, but it was corporate MB crap so headed into town for a beer instead. Nice town. Cheers.

BAS/ESP/ABS warning on this era of Mercedes is a common erratic fault and usually something to do with the brake light switch. A cheap part and easy to swap out as it is in the footwell on the brake pedal itself.

Munich was really really really good. We had to leave before I became a lush. By god the Germans like cars, beer, sausages and shopping. We did some retail therapy. Konrad my favourite motor accessory shop where I buy all my coolant don't yeh know.
