gadgetgricey
Too many to remember. Did a list a few years back and got to 150, so think would be over 200 by now. Remember when doing list, thought it was finished and then suddenly remembered a specific manufacturer eg Citroen, which then added another 10 (3xBX, 6xXantia, 1xC8) Highlights First Saab Classic 900. (loved that car and should not have got rid) Mazda RX8 (purchased from @HMC) Amazing car, but due to change in circumstances had to go. BMW E38's (Overall probably nicest cars I've owned) Passat GL5's. Crashed one, sold one. Still think, best gearbox I've ever used and matched to 5 pot engine. Gonna stop there as will keep going. eddyramrod
I started my driving lessons in 1977 and passed my test the following summer, so since then, comfortably over 100. I did have a spreadsheet typed up but it's being held captive (like so much I've written or photographed) on my rogue remote hard drive. Highlights: three Cadillacs, three Jags, four Volvos (plus a couple for parts); these have established themselves as my favourite makers, in the order shown. There have been other trios too: Rootes Arrows and Fiat 500s (the old air-cooled ones) leap to mind.

barrett
On 7/23/2022 at 1:56 PM, RichardK said: It is not a source of pride. In 2006ish I worked out over leases, finance, maintenance and losses I'd sunk about £200,000 into this addiction. This gave me momentary pause for thought, worrying how much fuggin' cash has gone into driving absolutely horrible cars round for the last few years, so I've done some quick maths. I've had 36 cars in nine years. I can't remember how much I paid for the first one, but adding up all the other purchase prices, and then all the sales prices, and deducting one from the other, I have spent a grand total of £1828 on buying cars, and my current fleet (well, my part of shared cars and my whole cars) is probably worth about £24,000 so I think I'm broadly out ahead here. Obviously this doesn't factor in any repair/restoration costs or running costs, but I consider those to be irrelevant as it's my hobby and main interest in life and it requires some expenditure to do it. Anyway, not nearly as scary as I briefly thought it might be! FakeConcern

Looking at it you'll see why I chose my forum user name. 🙂 I bought my first car in July 1979 and only 5 of them have cost more than £500 to buy, although a few have cost more than that to keep on the road. 1. 1970 Austin 1300 2 door 2. 1970 Morris Oxford 3. 1976 Vauxhall Chevette E 4 door 4. 1970 Morris 1300 4 door 5. 1965 Austin A35 van(with rear seat and side windows) 6. 1958 Austin A35 Deluxe 2 door 7. 1969 Austin 1300GT 8. 1981 Audi 80 GL 9. 1992 Rover Metro 1.1 3 door (the only car I bought brand new, it wasn't worth it) 10. 1969 Austin Maxi 1500 deluxe 11. 1978 Vanden Plas 1500 12. 1981 Austin Maxi 1750 HL 13. 1980 Vanden Plas 1500 14. 1975 Austin Maxi 1750 15. 1974 Austin Maxi 1500 16. 1981 Austin Allegro 1.3 L 4 door 17. 1977 Austin Maxi 1750 18. 1981 Austin Allegro 1.5 HL 4 door 19. 2001 Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v Elegance 20. 2013 Skoda Fabia 1.2 SE 12v 21. 2003 Rover 45 1.4 Impression 3 5 door 22. 1986 Peugeot 205 1.1 GL 5 door 23. 1998 Ford Fiesta 1.25 LX 3 door 24. 1999 Citroen Saxo 1.1 East Coast 3 door Not as many as a lot of the folk on here but the current fleet is more than enough. Soundwave
Not that many actually... 1971 VW Beetle 1300 - my first ever car, not on the road but still owned. 1974 VW K70 - complete fucking rotbox, only ever drove it once. Sold to a friend who still has it, awaiting restoration. 1991 VW Polo saloon - I regret selling this one. Recently came up for sale, but with hefty scene tax added. 2004 Renault Clio 1.2 - basic, but capable. Right up until it developed severe oil incontinence. 2013 Fiat Panda - another utilitarian daily, was great around town but tiresome on longer commutes. 1996 Mazda MX5 - scruffy weekend car that I bought as a temporary summer toy 4 years ago... and still have. 2017 Skoda Fabia - current daily, and bought specifically for longer commutes. Just in time for my job to become home-based... 1995 Rover 216SLi - bit of nostalgia as my mum owned one when I was little. Recently re-acquired after selling at the start of the year. 1996 Renault Laguna estate - a recent regret, bought blind from eBay and completely rotten underneath. Scrapped last week. Rust Collector
I've been driving for 14 years, excluding company cars and cars that I bought to sell on without running them, I am in at 49 cars as best as I can remember. There's the possibility that I may have forgotten 1 or 2, but looking back through photos I'm fucked if I can find them. I honestly thought the count would be higher. I also think that 50 is a nice round number, and so I've allowed myself to start viewing the ebay tat thread again! Jerzy Woking
Been driving since 1976, and owned about 20 cars at most, starting with a rusty and knackered Rover P5B, and presently driving a Fiat Doblo 1.3. On the other hand I have been (legally) riding motorbikes since 1976 and I think I have owned around 300 to 400. Most I ever had at one time, all insured, taxed and MOT'd, was 15. From 50cc French mopeds to 1290cc V-twins, and everything in between. mitsisigma01, Rust Collector and FakeConcern

Missy Charm
A few, over the years. All cars are manual and petrol unless otherwise stated; list is not in chronological order: Fords: Mondeo Mark One two-litre, baby-blue; Mondeo Mark One V6, white (engine blew up, sadly. Full RS bodykit. Wish I still had it); 51 plate Fiesta Flight 1.3, red (lovely car, destroyed in road accident); Focus Mark One two-litre saloon, navy blue (dull); Puma 1.7, metallic green (should have kept); Focus Mark Two two-litre, silver (good car and still got). Citroens: Xantia 1.8 petrol, metallic maroon (never liked it, badly built); Xantia 1.9 turbodiesel, metallic green (better mpg but more problems than petrol one); Xsara 2.0 coupe, silver (rare 110 bhp diesel variant, destroyed in road accident). Turning Japanese: Toyota Corolla 1.6, navy blue (not very good to drive and not very nice to look at); Mazda 323F 1.8 five-door coupe, silver (not bad but long in the tooth and felt it); Nissan Bluebird 1.6, metallic greenish-grey (not very good to drive and quite nice to look at, destroyed in road accident). Other: mid-nineties BMW 3 Series 318iS coupe 1.8, black (clapped out and nasty drug dealer car that would be worth a fortune today).
