I have a shiter, its very lazy, starts perfect from cold, but very very sluggish, sounds great, i changed leak off lines, and also map sensor to manifold, manifold gasket and glow plugs, does not seem all there, hot start, well i may aswell sink under my seat, it takes an age to fire up, im wanting rid but also do love the thing, can anyone shed some light on any common issues?

If you are lucky it’s the in-tank fuel pump, if not you may need to replace the injector pump.

Has the injector pump drivechain stretched and upset the timing? You can loosen the pump and rotate it a small amount to get back a little but not much

it is on 176k definitely cannot hear the in tank pump, didnt even think of that, have read into adjusting the pump 1-3mm, i didnt expect a reply so quick, thanks, upon starting from hot there is a lot of white smoke, after it turning a good 10 revolutions, ill check out the in tank before i mess with the inj pump

These engines have a well known hot start problem, you can get a tuning box with a hot start helper.
