Low Horatio gearbox
Wow.. what a tosspot. I considered selling the NOS Victor FD wings I had for 400 for the pair at one point (needed the space) but felt it was a bit gougy with he price.. seems I'd have been "undervaluing" them 10 times. Nice tidy strong job with the welding tho.. did save yourself soem 440 quid on top too. sutty2006 and mk2_craig
sutty2006
I just need to get a better hammer or some big adjustable pliars to bend this outward a fraction before I weld it back up. HMC, Wibble, goosey and 14 others

PhilA
Your repair is strong, the strut tower isn't going anywhere and that should last well enough. Seal it up and carry on. Shame about the pressed steel tosspot. Rust Collector
sutty2006
Both front wings are now off and away at body shop being repaired. To my surprise I found a 10mm spanner behind the front bumper! Barry Cade, Shite Ron, mat_the_cat and 15 others 8 1
sutty2006
Work has halted temporarily on this. The wings are currently with a body shop which could take years to be done. Hopefully get them back soon. But you never know. m the heater blower was seized, which I managed to get under the scuttle to free off slightly. It does now work off the switch but it draws a lot of power so I’ve bitten the bullet and started stripping the dash down so I can get the motor out and free it up properly. surprisingly found some old video cards, one from 1986. Must have lost that quick! And a naafi card, forces? Rust Collector, mat_the_cat, Datsuncog and 12 others
Ghosty
NAAFI is recreational facilites for the armed forces and their families. The armed forces lot did seem to like their Carltons and Senators.
sutty2006
Navy Army Air Force Institution. so father sutty says. So yes, entirely possible it was owned by someone in the forces. Fairly certain the 85 rekord was ex forces owned too. Wibble, HarmonicCheeseburger and tooSavvy
sutty2006
I finally got the heater blower out. It’s a shit job, well and truely. Half the dash comes out along with the heater matrix. heater matrix exiled from the car. i think I’ve tried to dismantle these before without success. The last one I did didn’t go back together very well. But it’s freed off a little so I put it back in loosely to try. It only works on full blast. I’ve taken the switch gear out and cleaned the copper contacts up but it’s not loving life on the slower speeds. I set the slower speed on the switch, then poked the fan until it started turning. This then decided to fill the cabin with smoke. I think it’s broken. The green “resistor” ?? got hot. Finding a replacement is proving tricky. VERY tricky. Don’t really know what to do now. Other similar Vauxhalls blowers are either completely different or don’t exist any more. HarmonicCheeseburger and uk_senator

sutty2006
I have tried to disassemble this and it’s not gone well. Getting the rear plate off was easier this time, but it seams it’s the inner bearing that’s seized. It’s fallen to pieces inside. So I’m now on the hunt for something to replace it with. tooSavvy and Rust Collector 1

sutty2006
Now in contact with a chap in Holland who going to check his stock for a heater blower and also the missing cassette holder and lip spoiler. sutty2006
Picked up the left wing today to check it fits ok before he cracks on with the rest. Slight adjustment to the bottom part and the rear edge and it’s good to go. Once the wings are done it’s ready to go (just need to check over the rear brakes and bleed them). apart from the heater blower, which I still can’t find one. They seam to be unobtainium. To the point where I can’t find any abroad! Shite. Mrs6C, Crackers, AnnoyingPentium and 15 others
