warch
A lot of pre 1980 cars won't be taxed or Mot'ed now so it is difficult to assess whether they're still on the road or rusting in a shed somewhere.

Bear in mind that they should be taxed, even if it is free, if they're on the road. You're spot on about the MOTs, though (which I think is crazy - and my MOT examiner says it has made his job boring!) DSdriver and warch

HillmanImp
Mrs was just watching Hi de hi and there was this MG on it. Quick look and it was last taxed in 1982 But the show wasn't broadcast until 1988, so it had obviously been off the road for a bit, even by the time it was on telly. Is it likely to be part of a 'prop' set of cars at the BBC or something? Of course the DVLA records could be bollocks.... HMC

That's the T reg Capri. The silver & gold ones used in the last couple of series survived in pretty original condition ( I believe at one point in the 90's a guy in the Midlands owned both). The only thing I can recall from the article was that one of the cars had it's engine sitting in the boot when he found it. (Sorry can't be of more help, it's daft the stuff you remember sometimes). Comes back as a1960 MGA , which is still around. Even on pre-war MG lickers forums there’s some debate as to exactly what this car was (is) The consensus is that it’s a modified N Type Magnette. garethj and bicycle repairman
