My first ever Collection Thread.

Yay, at last. It's been five five years since I bought a car, which must be something of a record, and that was only seven miles away so didn't warrant a thread.

I'm not off just yet. I've had a disappointing breakfast.

But I've still got plenty of time for a coffee, get a paper and a leisurely dog walk. Chieveley is raring to go.

He's not a high energy dog. More soon...

I'm guessing the Cardiff train then, which I believe (could be wrong) reverses at Bristol Temple Meads.

Indeed.

They've taken to using 165/166s on this route instead of 158s. These were built for Thames Valley suburban routes and have 2+3 seats which are not ideal for long distance cross country routes.

Those seats are no longer empty, I jumped on quick to take that. 2+3 seats are pointless, nobody is using the centre seats. Would have much preferred a 158. Actually would have much preferred a class 33 on five mk1s with headcode 89 on the front. Can't believe they've been gone nearly 35 years.

At least this has a phone charger. I'll be here a while.

Looks like he might have a bit of boxer in him?

It's like a cat but bigger and more easily* trained. HTH.

He is mostly American Staffy but is indeed part Boxer and part arsehole but only a bit. We know this as we had a dna test done as it turns out Boxers are much more expensive to insure than Staffies. Turned he was mostly Staffy but we can legitimately say he's a crossbreed which is a posh word for mongrel. The dna test paid for itself there and then.

Most people got off at Bristol, to be replaced by another hoard. I took the brief opportunity to stretch my legs during the changeover.

I'm going to need them later and don't want them atrophying before I get there. Also took the opportunity to change seats so I'm facing the direction of travel. Yay, small wins.

Departed first train at Newport

Only had a 6 minute connection so I was worrying a bit when the train was 6 minutes late at one point but they made most of it back up in the reversal at Bristol.

Then...

How can a train going from Cardiff to Holyhead only have two coaches?

But it has.

To be fair I have got a seat but it's pretty much full. I've never been on one of these though they are 20 years old. Not actually that bad. Proper Inter City seating arrangement with doors at each end and one big seating area.  I'm in here for just over an hour.

Dog looks a handsome chap indeed...... I think all dogs need a little bit of loopy in them.

Any clues as to the return steed?

Hmm, not really good at clues without giving too much away. Though in a wierd way @LightBulbFun is closer than he thinks though you'll never guess why when you see it. It's not a bus though.
