autofive
Do 2 litre pintos mash valves when the belt snaps? Im unsure... Not normally, no. I've fitted belts to a fair few that have suffered from belt snappage and so far I've not had one that didn't run fine. +1. "Freewheeling." the carbed 2 litre pinto was a non-interference engine but is the modified head injection motor still a 'no valve bender'??? garethj
There's a Sunny Coupe on ebay, and also this rather fine Sunny saloon too. Exciting it is not, but cheap A Sunny might be a bit racy, maybe adrenalin is going to blow the top off your skull? In that case you need this magnificent example Escort dieselI had a Mk3 Escort years ago, I should imagine the diesel version would have you yearning for the days when you stood in a draughty bus queue to get to work, getting spat on by ragamuffins whose phone cost more than your car. ashmicro
Looks like a pukka Ford spoiler on that Scrote. The 1.8 Diesel isn't horrible, even though it's atmo, but the 1.6 is dire. Back in the day, when I worked at the shop pictured in my sig, we had a then-new mark 4 1.6D van. I was tasked to take 100 gallons (25 boxes of 4 each) of Duckhams Q to another shop, which was up a steep hill, and then down the other side. I managed to fuck the clutch AND the brakes, and the top end sprung a leak. Keith (the boss) was cool about it, and realised we needed a more powerful van. 2.9i V6 Transit on alloys with headlamp washers duly arrived! The bit about it being in a garage since 1999 is bollocks though - I was driving it up and down the road in 2005, and it was running on all four then so very much doubt it had a stripped plug thread. Plus he's advertising it for £200 more than he paid me for it, and he's done bugger all with it in the meantime.
