This is worth the entrance price on its own. Excessive levels of want for a brown Ital.

I couldn't go as I've got fambleh stuff happening but I am in Lincs and spotted a few chodsters (red BX) on the A15.

Trying to remember where I saw this before, I assumed it was on the Panda classic forum but now I am thinking it could have been here on AS.   Have some vague memories from a few years ago about a guy who has this along with some other Fiat projects and was doing a full resto on a Fiorino van?

Thoroughly enjoyable day yesterday. Managed to get Captain Peacock there and back, 110 miles each way, with a dodgy leaking clutch slave cylinder (big bottle of dot4 to top up) and an equally dodgy oil leak (1/2 a litre top up each way). Plenty of interesting things to look at. Here he is in position in his magnificent Russet Brown-ness. I was very surprised to see 2 othe Princesses, especially one in the concourse!

Thought I saw Peter Simpson there. He must have seen me as when I went to say hello he'd gone. (haven't seen him for about 8 years )

Really good day out..... saw so many of the cars I grew up with, that an uncle owned, or dad owner....or dad test drove at some point....that I owned at one point....or a mate owned and we used to go on trips in.....and the best part for me was the condition of a lot of the stuff was what you'd expect from a 25-35 year old honest original motor.

Having not been before I thought my old Frontera was gonna be a bit tatty but  Soundwave was spot on, there was a great mix of restored minters but honest original ( rust plebs, laquar peal etc) motors too, with zero snobbery regarding condition, people just happy that these unexceptional cars still exist. Some fella actually put a pic of the frontera up on Twitter while we were queuing to go in.

Great to hear the clatter of an XUD diesel again....like a friend of mine said....it was the sound of our youth. The only car missing to complete the day for me was a Peugeot 405....they have completely disappeared it seems.

Regards the 1990 camry, I had a brief chat with the owner, the car is completely original with only minor touch ups. It looked like brand new.

I've been scanning the photos and was going to ask if there was a 405 there at all? Maybe I'll take one of mine next year to help with that situation?

Had a great time, didn't bump into many shiters, but did see a lot of AS cars. Was fun explaining the V8 Stellar to my mates.

Queuing to get in was still not great - got stuck in a very long entry queue at 10:25, took until 11:10 to get parked up. My doppelganger was driving at this point (even my parents commented on how alike we look - no relation) and launched away from the ticket marshals so quickly that a Nova in front of us pulled aside to let us past

Didn't take many pics... they're all on my phone, I might post some later.

It's the start of a week's driving holiday for me and my mates - I'm off to Leeds tomorrow as we're meeting up in the Dales. The powder blue Triumph 2000 was my mate's car - alas he has to go back to London until Tuesday so he's taken my Civic as it does double the MPG, and I've brought the 2000 up here and have full permission to drive it as much as I like - that I'm taking full advantage of

respcec to the polish guy

He should have won the day. The advert was on the back seat, it was 1500pln, about £300 a few years ago. Utter bargain.

Great car and a great story. But no, it was a Vauxhall. I wouldn't have picked it to be honest.

Actually, I don't recall seeing one, and j can't find any in my pics! Weird. Some proper obscure stuff there, but no 405s.

Speaking of pics, here's a few more. Just because.

Vin, who was of this parish some years ago. Fiorino still in progress apparently.

No 405s, but there were 205s, 309s, 406s and even a 104 and 504. Oh and an early 106 and 206.

Yes please......I understand while the crowd isnt fussy a phase 1 GRD Estate would be especially popular with at least 1 attendee next year

Big shout out to the owner of the Daihatsu Fellow Max for letting me fold all 6'3" of myself into his tiny tiny car. I fit and reckon I could drive the car in relative comfort! Currently debating whether or not to post the photo...

Some internet sleuthing had revealed that the owner of the Daihatsu is @Ratdat of this parish. Doesn't look like he's active anymore though...

Anyway, I've decided to reject anonymity on the internet, so here's that photo:

Mine are both Phase 2's I'm afraid. The Inastate is scruffy with keep fit windows tho so may be the best one for the FOTU? Still surprised none were there at all, I know the models I have are thin on the ground with less than 50 left combined but others not so much and it was a national event.

I certainly noticed that salmon pink RAV4 too, it had a slight metallic/pearl effect.

The W-reg Renault 12 was intriguing, surely well into 18 sales by that time and not far off the launch of the 9? 1981 registration too, must have been sold with a healthy discount.

A little selection from me:

IMG_0435edit.thumb.jpg.250c5036681adaff8eb325b076fe8021.jpg

Our time in the queue, with one or two familiar cars already evident. Chap in the old Lancia behind us seemed to be having issues, at one point it wouldn't restart so my kids jumped out to push but he managed to get it going again after much churning over.

IMG_0440edit.thumb.jpg.8972d0e1d6d72a15c2d109ff3a65a428.jpg

I ended up parked behind this, conveniently next to the driveway. Great to see on the Suffolk plate as my dad had a Giulietta registered VGV 272X and I've seen others in this series.

Compare and contrast.

I liked this. A lot. Don't know if that's the owner giving me a look.

Steph doing one of her interview things. I got collared too and probably made a complete fool of myself.

The other Sapporo's interior, amazing.

Chap at the back looks deep in thought. I suspect that the red sleeve guy has asked him if he's ever seen a cooler wheel design, and he's trying hard to think of anything.

Ratdat's Daihatsu must have generated more interest per cc than anything else.

This was like some sort of royal procession. Wonderful to see.

IMG_0627edit.thumb.jpg.60a89813d4189975128d7681d6fb7b0e.jpg

The driveway passing up through the middle made for some good photo opportunities.

The Mazda trim did eventually end up with a grateful recipient (Alpus on Flickr).

There seemed to be a variety of reactions to this six-pot Landcrab.

Guess what car wore this? Initially I didn't notice it.

A scene that might have confronted a visitor to a Datsun showroom in 1980/81. Turns out the wonderful Cherry belongs to a chap I've known for a long time.

It had the more restrained shades of beige interior, rather than the violent blue or maroon also available. When I had my hatchback version as a first car in 1988 I'd have loved to add the 4-spoke wheel and dash with rev-counter.

Miss SL gave the Daihatsu her seal of approval. It really was an amazing thing and certainly rewarded lengthy study, lots of clever touches and despite it being very small an owner wouldn't have felt they were being deprived. I fitted into it quite happily, the pedals were a long way up-front and incredible to think there was an engine up there too.

Stylish badging.

My favourite part of the day, just hanging out with long-time (and newer) car friends. We left at about 6.30.

IMG_0716.thumb.JPG.cd5e4d61869d51512db1b23a5f24573e.JPG

Saw this oddity in Stamford on the way home.

P.S. Did anyone attend in a P-reg 850 saloon, or know someone who's got one in/around Bury? I got acknowledged by one on the A14 as we headed home.

P.P.S. Got a nod of approval on the way up there from a guy on a pony and trap, complete with car rear seat from him to sit on.
