Lots of nice cars today, turnout seems to have been mega

Bit of a dampener on the day to come back to my civic and find it had been scratched though 😕 fortunately I was planning on replacing both wings anyway and it’s not a huge area but it still leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

Once again great turnout, lots of very unexceptionable but interesting cars there. My favorite was the Senator B (naturally), followed by the very much not unexceptionable Toyota Century. It was also great to see so much interest for the Corona and enjoyed speaking to everyone wondering what it was.😄

Well, that was a long but entertaining day. Rover despite its overall shabbiness was flawless on the drive there and back, I managed to get there before the queue situation got too severe, and there were lots of great people that I didn't talk to due to my potato-like social skillset. :D I'm expecting my car to be in lots of people's pics and videos... in the background, as I was next to @rob88h's Sierra which got a LOT of (well deserved) attention.

Particular highlight was being a couple of cars behind @mat_the_cat's V8 Stellar on the way home, and listening to lovely V8 noises. Then going our separate ways, and then somehow ending up in front of him on the A46. More lovely V8 noises as he overtook!

I took over 150 pics, but I imagine uploading all of them would bore you. Here's just a sample:

I bet those long queues are bit of a harsh test for some nicely preserved but possibly not extensively used specimens that spend most of their time dormant. I can almost smell the hot glycol from here!

A 2.1 td XM wasn't happy, owner was pouring cold water in.

Also hope this wasn't anyone here, Even if it wasn't, sucks to fail to proceed. 😔

The owner of that F4 used to be on here. Possibly Mr Lobster? I do love an F4.

That wasn't my Marina, very similar though, mind you mind now has been repaint with alloys fitted and the wrong exhaust...

The R4 van does belong to Mr Lobster aka Dave, hope its nothing serious.

I'm absolutely gutted still that I couldn't make it today, although it does feel like a list of cars that I've owned now! I've seen a few photos of Porsche Caymans and modern Land Rovers there though....

Not vandalism, surely?!

I don’t think so, more carelessness, looks like someone has rubbed up against the edge of the arch with something metal, possibly a kid as it’s not that high up. It’s only about 15cm long but still hacked off as it was the cars good side, compared to the other side which has been dented by a previous owner.

And home.

365 kilometres according to the Innocenti's trip meter, which probably isn't far out given that Google Maps said 108 miles each way to the main entrance and the FOTU entrance was a fair bit further than that.  It's used £35 in fuel which works out to about 53mpg - I'll take that.

Fantastic to see everyone again and a brilliant variety of cars as always.  I took plenty of photos - I'll post a few later but others do the photography thing a lot better than I do so I won't post the full set.

First time at the festival and throughly enjoyed it, didn’t take many pics as there were to many cars there I liked, will post the few I did get.

Think people are overreacting about the amount of modern/not appropriate cars, probably accounted for less than 5% of the cars there, just walk past them. I’ve seen  “this is the reason I’ve not gone this year” quoted a few times, your loss.

I agree with you about moderns/inappropriates but Hammond and Brewer can get in the fucking sea. Give the millionaire a prize cos he's paid someone to restore his car? Fuck off!

That did make me laugh when they announced the special prize for their special celebrity guest.  Load of sycophantic bollocks...

Hammond did at least drive his car to the show though (I was following him for a while on the way there), unlike some of the concours cars which left on trailers.

Where do I claim my "only Daewoo in attendance" prize?

Thoroughly enjoyed the event, well worth the 6 hours of driving! And that's with getting very lost on single track lanes on the way there (encountered a hay lorry and had to do a spot of offroading) and dealing with high humidity and no (working) aircon on the way home.

Is the owner of what I think was a dark green Citroen ZX on here? Whatever it was you said hi surprisingly early on in my journey on the M1.

Big shout out to the owner of the Daihatsu Fellow Max for letting me fold all 6'3" of myself into his tiny tiny car. I fit and reckon I could drive the car in relative comfort! Currently debating whether or not to post the photo...

Thorough enjoyment abounds. Due to my knackered old iPhone, I don’t get much battery time for photos but these were my (captured) highlights:

MVP: What my Mini could have been, if it were a Metro.

Underdog award:  Obviously I’m picking a 440. Would have been gutted is no-one had brought one!

Coincidental Reg Award: My MX5 is a fellow K_BOF

Covert thy neighbour: Ooof it’s beige. But my DieseL does provide a certain lovable misery that a petrol can never achieve.

Today it tripled its post recommission mileage and didn’t miss a beat rattle.
I’m looking forward to seeing more photos to remind me of the great stuff that was there.
