Any idea why the Prefect has that shield type badge?. Is the Ford blue oval more recent than that?

That's the old Ford Five-Star motoring badge. It was their sales pitch in the 1950s and early 1960s

There are 5 stars round teh edge of the badge

Some 105E Anglias had this on the rear pillar

The Capri and Classic saloon had their 5 stars on the grille

I had never noticed those badges before. My Dad had a 100E but I was only 8 when he got rid of it so I didn’t remember the details. About 8 years later he got a Mk111 Cortina which did have the blue oval by then.

Done a bit more digging. The first Ford to have a blue oval badge was the 1930 Model A in the US.

The first UK built car was the Model Y

In the 1960s Ford started putting blue ovals on the front wings between the arch and the doornof Cortinas, Corsairs, Escorts etc.

And here's a side spear, mounted on the front wings of a 100E, again more of those 5 stars.
